My understanding is that the presenters are being changed to make it more inclusive - a bit like Match of the Day.

Isn’t it funny, all that these comments are not for the best person to replace her, but for people simply trying to fit in with some diversity agenda to satisfy the channels pc requirements.
Its a sad indictment of the world we live in now that the best person for a job is often ignored to meet some alternate ideology..
Just like last time, when they gave a blokes job to a woman!

Lewis Hamilton to host, team captains Antony Joshua and Gary lineker. All guests will be BAME and the mystery guest round will be guess the celebrity protester.
That should do it. When it crashes and burns, it will the racist, bigoted WASP's to blame.

It seems I was spot on.

Now I have googled to see who Alex Scott is it would appear she is eminently qualified. A good selection hopefully.

She’s been a football pundit on various tv and radio outlets in recent times, as well as a Strictly appearance. I’ve always been impressed with her punditry - puts a lot of male ex players to shame. Sadly, but not unexpectedly, the knuckle draggers on social media have taken the opportunity to give their Neanderthal racism another outing. I think she’ll make a good job of it.

There is an obligation on employees not to discriminate when a job role needs filling.

I wonder who else was interviewed and subsequently rejected?

Unfortunately it appears quite obvious.

Both this thread, and recent posts in the F1 thread have had some rather distasteful undertones.

That was a risk I took when I opened the thread. Perhaps the problem is that what is said is in undertones though?
I think there are two issues at hand, isms, of whatever type and some peoples discomfort with some fairly course bludgeoning with the diversity stick.
I do wonder at what point that becomes counter productive?
As for Alex Scott, I'd never heard of her, probably because I don't follow football but she seems at least as qualified as Sue Barker was?

Good call BV - she is bright, entertaining and confident in front of the camera.

So. A very popular presenter has lost her job simply because her skin is the wrong colour. But no public outbursts, no protests. Ahhh I forgot. Racism only applies to white people. 😡😡😡

Did you think something similar when the pretty girl took over from the old bloke all those years ago? Alternatively why not moan about the fate of the older woman being turned over for this years model? Maybe your agenda's showing

Let's put this in perspective.
After many years it was decided that a declining audience rating needed a new presenter. So, David Coleman was replaced by Sue Barker. Cue outrage
The same applies today. My 94 year old Mum loves the programme, but no one under 40 watches it. Time to shake it up.

The BBC has a bit of a track record (no pun intended) for dispensing with the services of older female presenters.

Gagging agreements have kept most of them quiet, apparently.
