Hopefully I will. I've been promised some cripples to kick and beggars to jeer at - that should help recover my mood.

That's the spirit. But such angst on such an inconsequential subject on an ineffectual platform ? This is for entertainment not therapy 😀.

It must be tough being so serious about stuff.

About the only stuff that is serious in my tiny life is to protect my family. Other than that, everything is fair game. Even Cricket and Football.

Wherever she has been for the last few weeks, it must have been sunny. She's got a fair old tan!

You knock it, yet you come back to both the platform and the topic.

What's the word I'm looking for ...?

Robert Peston is an intelligent guy.

Not having a pop at you, but have you ever tried speaking coherently and intelligently about something, 'on the fly' to an audience of millions of people? And then keep doing it while your director is also saying something to you in your earpiece? e.g, telling you to keep talking because the next piece of VT has gone wrong, or the line has gone down.

Not easy.

Des Lynam could do it really well, and you couldn't tell people were talking to him in his ear. And he had "open" talkback in his earpiece, so he heard everything said in the gallery by everyone. Most presenters have "switched" talkback on which they only hear the director when the director is speaking to them, not to everyone else.

One day we were doing Grandstand and Des was linking to the Wimbledon tennis. He was saying "....now we are going back to Wimbledon to see...." and at that moment the director screams "f**k, we've lost Wimbledon !", and without blinking or hesitating, Des carries on his previous sentence "..the McEnroe match...but just before we do that, let's get an update on the snooker". Absolutely brilliant and cool as a cucumber.

Apologies for the thread drift, but just a bit of background.

To manage to be misogynistic and sexist in one sentence is indeed an accomplishment...even for the ersatz reproduction of the Daily Mail that JB has become.

This whole "she's off to ITV" thing is a perfect illustration of why some people should not be allowed unsupervised access to the internet (or sharp objects, or fire, or indeed the world in general). When the "where is Laura" thing started (because she'd gone on holiday) someone on here searched the internet and found a story saying she was moving to ITV. But in a failure of competence, attention span, blood alcohol level or basic intellect failed to notice the date on the web page (which was in 2011). This spawned lots of comments from the similarly de-competenced and, despite the reality being repeatedly posted here, continue to promote these fake facts while we wait for sufficient geological epocs to pass for their personal pennies to drop.
Personally I think her PR company have done a cracking job in keeping her name in front of the brightest and best (the elite!) while she was off for two weeks in the sun

24/7 until 7/9 is a bit longer than 2 weeks. Hope she had a good break as I think she will busy going forward.
Cheers

Laxeyman? Hero? Someone who has a different opinion to you? So you can't post unless we are in agreement then.

Nobody who has any good sense uses the version according to the :

"Reform der deutschen Rechtschreibung von 1996"

Just silly! I'm sure you know which part I am referring to , nicht wahr ?
