we must expect more riots to decide who is actually running the government,
Why must riots be expected?

Oh yes, you have the right to carry an arsenal of guns. And the Orange Moron carefully shaping his riotous words so as to look an innocent bystander.

You guys are forked. And no ruby slippers to tap together to get out of it.

An example of how America works.

The Sturgis bike event attracted over 400,000 non mask wearing, non socially distancing riders.

The event was encouraged by the Governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem, who has advocated gatherings during the pandemic and denies that masks are effective despite advice from the SD Department of Health.

An in depth study found that over 250,000 covid infections resulted directly from the Sturgis event and indeed over 3000 people have died from covid in the thinly populated Dakotas.

Compare the minimal response to this preventable outbreak in the Dakotas with the radical response to a crime committed on sep 11 that killed a similar number. Invasion of two countries, massive boost to defense spending, militarization of domestic law enforcement, domestic surveillance.

Strugis, nothing!!!

Bizarre.

Leaving aside the gravity of the event for a moment, it's amusing to read how many of those involved kindly provided incriminating evidence of their participation thus confirming the well known term "not the sharpest tools in the box " ......

From the Beeb link: "According to a local ABC news station, a judge has agreed that Mr Chansley should be "provided food in line with a shaman's strict organic diet" after he refused to eat the meals provided at the jailhouse"

Now that's rather impressive. You storm the Capitol and now you get to order take-away.

Yeah, but how would he know it's organic?

It's organic after it has passed through the out-of-sight jail attendant...

CG: it does beg the question though - what if the president says "I don't care if it's illegal". What happens then?

(I'm thinking of something that needs to be done urgently rather than something that could be handled later on via impeachment).

With Trump, I suspect the invoking of an amendment somewhere between 24 and 26.

Any aggressive militaristic act ordered by Trump, in the absence of threat would be regarded by the military as illegal
Defeine threat - The USA has a legally recognised policy of preemptive/preventative self defence.....

ORAC, General Hyten covered it nicely, I think, and he probably has a better overview of the threats than outlined in your links.

Two MAGA protestors being interviewed: 'Donald J Trump is a genius....that's what the J is for'.

The video is on Twitter and I can't link it but a search will find it.

I suspect that many on here are not familiar with, or do not understand, the 25th Amendment.

Looks like trump has caused significant progress to be made on his wall.
Problem is it's not bordering Old Mexico.

Given that Section 4 has never, ever been used, I suspect that many not on here are equally unfamiliar with it.

Surely the defence that the rioters/insurrectionists will use is "I was following the orders of the President of the United States" which raises some interesting questions.....

If the court rejects that they were following Trumps orders and finds them guilty, Trump is in the clear for incitement . If on the other hand the court finds them not guilty because they were following the orders of the President, they have Trump banged to rights, as they say on this side of the pond

Bit of a dilemma for the prosecutors ..... Trump, rioters, Trump, rioters
