I have no interest in "explaining" anything Trump says when he is in his wandering thought mode. Any more than I could explain Obama in his lecture mode, or Biden whenever he seems awake.

But I do wonder why people who hate his entire being, and mostly don't even live here, seem to be so obsessed with every word he says or tweets. Is life in your own countries that boring?

The Brits have an excuse - Trumplite in Downing Street seems to be convinced that he can get the World's best trade deal with the States PDQ.. so I guess it's a case of people doing their homework and research before becoming citizens of the 51st State..

Shhhh

It's a sign of respect that their lives depend on what he does, while we just take it or lose it as we feel like.

When you consider the fact that he is classed by many as one of the most powerful people on the planet, is it really any wonder that lots of people are very interested in what he says and does? especially as what he says and does can affect a great many people who don't live in the USA.

What makes you think that those of us who look at him as a complete lightweight (I am now being nice) hate him?
Why should I, why would I? I don't.

Well it must suck to be where you live then. Over here, as noted, we don't really pay a lot of attention to every Trumpiantweet. The media might, but no one else.

Perhaps the old days were better for you then. A whole lot of "Pink" around the world. That sure kept the natives in place, didn't it!

NutLoose: Yes.
I am in the company of quite a number of your countrymen/women who made the same association on Twitter.

I suspect it's the former as most evidence leads that way.

Now I am an American who has lived in the U.K. for 17 odd years. Just got switched on to the “Blue lives matter” Facebook thread. Dear god! I tended to sway between republican and democrats but no more. They are a poster board for the SS! And guess what... Trump is there poster boy!

Well, maybe it's because Trump's tweets are now considered official government communications. We should pay attention to what a president thinks and says as he sets policy for the government. It's unfortunate Trump considers himself the president of his supporters, not the President of all citizens of the United States. Think this is an exaggeration? Trump just the other day labeled Democrats as terrorists; nice way to unite the country...... And we who live here have reason to be concerned and have the rights and responsibility to object to stupid shit.

We're not obsessed with the garbage he tweets, we are just amazed that somebody so stupid got to the position he is in, and that the citizens of the USA are content to have a stupid president.

Well, a LOT of us are curious about that too. From MSNBC
"These aren't my voters," the president has said repeatedly, dismissing protesters in discussions with aides about how to respond over nearly three weeks of unrest, according to three people familiar with the comments.
They are, however, citizens of the United States and you are supposed to be their President. The President of all of them, not just the ones who like you.

Well he could have said to those who didn't vote for him "just get in the back of the bus and come along for the ride".

But he didn't.

Foreign fool! Foreign twit! You must have nothing going on in your life to be interested in a key ally being led by a mentally ill lunatic!

The fact that you seem amazed that many people are interested in what the Commander in Chief of one of the most powerful military forces in the world says or does doesn't really surprise me.
Just because you may not be interested in what goes on outside of the borders of where you live doesn't mean that everyone else is as insular as you.

Another reason so many non-Americans have strong views about the US President is because he chooses to broadcast his views directly to the whole world every day, not just his target audience in the USA. We get hit with his latest bit of social media lunacy all the time, even though we're thousands of miles away.

Whether he just doesn't realise that he's using massive global media channels for purely domestic issues, or whether he is so stupid as to not care about the impact of doing this isn't clear. I have a suspicion that he just doesn't realise that he's broadcasting his f*ckwittery globally, and probably doesn't realise that there are far more people using Twitter outside the US than there are within it (79% of Twitter users are outwith the USA). Consequently, his daily outbursts are read by far more people outside the US, and used, rightly or wrongly, to form global opinions about the US. He has created a heck of a global entertainment channel, though, one that gets people talking about him and the US, although not often in a very good light.

The last two posts by 747_jock and VP959 are right on the mark. The US president uses twitter as his political platform. It's an international forum that is read by people all over the world. This could be a good thing in the hands of a thoughtful and intelligent president who shares the values of what the US should be and is quite capable of being so. But we have a president who uses it to insult and denigrate those he dislikes and shares his thoughts throughout the world. I'm not even convinced he realizes that twitter goes beyond the borders of the US and what he says has an effect over the whole world and not just his voter-base.
