Tom Cruise and Nasa in talks over film to be shot in outer space

Tom Cruise is in talks with Nasa about working on a movie shot in outer space, according to the head of the space agency.

“Nasa is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station!,” Nasa administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make Nasa’s ambitious plans a reality.”

Bridenstine gave no further details but the tweet followed a report in Hollywood trade outlet Deadline that Cruise was working with Tesla and SpaceX entrepreneur Elon Musk to make what would be the first feature film to be shot in space.

Musk has not officially confirmed the collaboration, but replied to Bridenstine, “Should be a lot of fun!”

The proposed action adventure is in its early stages, Deadline reported on Monday. Representatives for Cruise did not immediately return a request for comment.......

Didn't Bullock do one of these already?
Advantages of doing it in Hollywood or Dragon International Film Studios Llanilid ?
Far better production values.

NASA has already made the ultimate space movie in 1969. Nothing can compete with that.

Given the rather spectacular special effects used the Gravity movie one wonders why the need to ship a film crew up there at all. Presumably it will be a proper 'disaster' movie rather than a more mundane 'day in the life of a space midget' style offering.

Is he playing Ham? A role he is ideally suited for.

The part of Blofeld, the evil villain with dreams of world domination, is to be played by Trump. Q will be Musk himself, with lots of gadgets.

Any nominations for Moneypenny?
