In fact, since it's not officially a Bond film, it wasn't included in my James Bond 'Ultimate Collection' box set https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Jame...v%2C562&sr=1-2 (same thing applies to the original Peter Sellers version of Casino Royale - it's not officially a Bond film).
I never liked Roger Moore as James Bond - not "macho" enough (my sister goes a bit further and says Moore is too effeminate). I think Brosnan made a really good Bond - people of my generation will always think Connery was the best Bond, but Brosnan was close. I agree that Daniel Craig is a bit too serious - Brosnan was much better in that regard.
I do rate Daniel Craig highly within the franchise, but I also liked Timothy Dalton's portrayal in two otherwise poor films

Thunderball was the best Bond film, it had Connery and Vulcans, what more can you ask for...?

Connery could have a nasty streak when it was required while retaining the suave and sophisticated look, Niven played it for laughs, Lasenby was a one off but didn't have the legs, Moore could have made a good naval officer but just didn't look like he could kill a martini never mind a henchman, Dalton lacked a sense of humour but had promise and had some really good film performances in a similar vein, Brosnan also had promise but I think by that point the stories had gone beyond the believable. Craig had the menace but never struck me as being the sort of person who would have been made a naval officer in the first place.
