GB News may prove to be a more sympathetic if not supportive outlet for her.

Taken from a Guardian article on Sunday ...their actions speak louder than words.

"In her desperation to scramble aboard the bandwagon, Priti Patel neglected to have the package creasing ironed out before she stuck on the shirt, while Rishi Sunak forgot to snip off the sales tags. "

Footballers can say it, but for England’s politicians ‘sorry’ really is the hardest word.

Good article and well thought through. I personally think there is something wrong in English society currently and I am not sure what it is but the recent football competition illustrated some things all too well. Not sure a World Cup bid will be on the cards anytime soon.

My apologies to the other home nations for making the “we” of this particular article the English – but All This is very much an English problem, and there’s no point kidding ourselves about that.
How refreshing to read a jorno who makes the distinction, most don't.

In addition, it may be educational for the anti knee folks to read this letter (referenced in the above article) from the co-founder of the Conservatives Against Racism For Equality, which explains some of your misconceptions:

Caught a good snippet on World at One. I think the interviewee was the fragrant Andrea Leadsom.

Interviewer: So the government is cutting the Aid Budget to 0.5%
Andrea: It is not a cut.

Aside from the rights and wrongs of the issue, one wonders if Andrea went to the Diane Abbot School of Mathematics?

You need to remember she once had aspirations to becoming the leader..so a timely reminder of her talent and capability, should a vacancy occur, won't go amiss

Thankfully, Sir Humphrey's legacy lives on. Of course, now that the Gov't is intent on "projecting the UK "across the globe, what better way to do so than to cut aid !.

“These are my beliefs, if you don’t believe in the way I believe then you really don’t believe at all and actually you may be against me.”

This increasing binary trend in public debates on important issues is naive, dangerous and ultimately false.

A timely and a very profound observation. Thank you.

May I also add:

Are we not in danger of thinking that the press and social media are actually real-life? How many people do you know who actually think like that?

Definitely.

The media seem to be leading and creating the news rather than merely reporting it. It’s always been the case for many years but has become more powerful and insidious recently as social media seems to reinforce and endorse many of the ‘facts’ and give them further credibility.

It would interesting to see what countries the posters are based in - an whether this is part of a campaign to incite dissent and division within the UK.

Have you never heard of a VPN? Unsurprisingly people with odious views use them a lot. There is absolutely no justification for that headline whatsoever.

CJ,

I am referring to the known cyber campaigns for that purpose organised in Russia, China and North Korea - and can provide numerous sources to that effect.
