Jan-Michael Vincent - Airwolf dies

Jan-Micheal Vincent or as he was better known as Stringfellow Hawk in the Airwolf series in 1980s is dead. Apparently died 3-4 weeks ago.

He was also in WInds of War.... the first series I can remember watching in its entirety... was superb... remember admiring him very much and thinking it'd be great to be him.. in retrospect, of course, I might want to reconsider that. Still, never did forget him due to that series... didn't watch Airwolf... even at fifteen I knew better.

Mrs BBE tells me she thought he was quite the hunk back in the day. Sad to see the state he got into in his later years - he was unrecognisable. A shame as JMV was, for a while, a very popular and successful lead man.

He was a pretty cool dude back in the day and was a target for many a young heart and, who knows, encouraged a few potential rotary pilots to sign-up. As always, the back story included some less positive happenings and the latter part of his life the opposite of his prime. RIP

I particularly remember him as the younger assassin in 'The Mechanic' with Charles Bronson - excellent movie. Life can be unkind if you don'i look after yourself.

I prefer to remember the vibrant personas he played as an actor. He had a few interesting roles. The real life of an actor is beyond the mere entertainment consumer's ability to really know. Stringfellow Hawke was a good and somewhat nuanced role, as was his portrayal of the apprentice hit man in The Mechanic. He also played an interesting character in Baby Blue Marine in addition to appearing in guest roles in numerous TV shows prior to that. It's sad what he became, but then real life often falls short of Hollywood fantasy.

Met a guy who had done a movie with Seagal, plus 100 plus episodes of one of the UK soaps etc and he went into something else because people think you rich when they see you but reality is for every part he was one of 20. He preferred a monthly pay check to always reliant on next role.People think you rich because you on TV last weekend when reality is you were paid for that 6 months ago and have worked little since.

I think for every well known name in Hollyweird there is 249 others there who believe they can do that part, for most the only performing the do is asking "Would you like some more coffee" to a captive audience.
