Don't you wish this idiot had been a winner before procreating? Putting yourself at risk is one thing...

He is not the only one. In levels of risk he might survive but those at the bottom would not. Look at the blue tent below a fault line.

A bit retrospective here, but, alas, humans also choose to walk between the tracks as well. You won't be surprised therefore regarding several examples we've encountered on our heritage line.....note the bit about heritage for later please.

Two classics, these being "modern yoof ", ear phones in place, naturally, blissfully ambling along and equally blissfully oblivious to the repeated sounding of the horn as we approached.....cue a classic "WTF ! " when said yoof suddenly turns around to see a "very large locomotive " now stationary behind it. More mature examples, dog walker crosses the line, dog however, being far more sensible, looks at approaching train and declines...dog walker then goes back to collect sensible dog, thus crossing the track twice with a train approaching.

Amongst the reasons offered to us , the "we thought it was disused !"..the shiny tracks may have been missed here, and the best one ever......"it's a heritage railway, you don't have real trains on a heritage railway "......it would be fair to say ones (less than ) diplomatic skills came to the fore when one expressed ones sentiments as to their intellect and perception .....

QUEENSLAND, Austrlia -- An Australian criminal has internet users scratching their heads after surveillance video caught him outing himself during an armed robbery.

According to Queensland police, the man walked into the Lower King Street store in Caboolture with a reusable shopping bag on his head.

He then took out a knife, walked up to the female cashier and demanded money and cigarettes while fidgeting with his "mask."

The attendant emptied two registers and handed over several boxes of cigarettes. Unsure where to put his loot, the robber took off the bag that was concealing his identity and used it to help carry the money and stolen goods out of the store.

The man then unknowingly turned his face to the store's camera and ran out.

IFR, sounds pretty good. Wonder if they left the locks in.

I wouldn't have called them victims though.

Here in Germany we had an accident at a glider field near Kassel: https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=224346

It seems that a jogger wearing headphones jogged out in front of a glider on a winch launch. They aborted the launch and the glider crashed from a height of about 5 meters, sending both the instructor and the student pilot to hospital, and wrecking the glider. (The student probably pancaked in when she suddenly lost the pull with the nose pitched way up.) The cops said that the jogger probably was unaware of what was going on around him because he was wearing headphones, so that he just kept going and escaped.

Just a Darwin candidate, not a winner yet, but give him time ....

In this instance, I would question the police's deduction and suggest the jogger needs to visit an optician......because if the launch was abandoned at that height, that's very close to the launch point and there's generally an awful lot of activity at launch points..."difficult to miss " as they say...Any sudden cessation of speed below 100ft is always "interesting " to put it mildly.....unfortunately, I witnessed it happen to a friend and experienced pilot one day in a Libellle with water on board ......the aircraft snapped in half on arrival back on the ground and his spine wasn't exactly intact either.

Said jogger may well be an aspirant for the award, but, also seems to have to the potential to include non aspirants

I have been following the aftermath of last year’s Kilauea eruption and this popped up in my email this morning:

Earlier, at about 6:30 pm, visitors reported that a man lost his footing and fell from a 300 foot cliff at Kīlauea caldera. The man had just climbed over a permanent metal railing at the Steaming Bluff overlook to get closer to the cliff edge.
At approximately 9 pm, the man was found alive but seriously injured on a narrow ledge about 70 feet down from the cliff edge.

Interesting update:

The man who fell 70 feet down a 300 foot cliff at Kīlauea caldera in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on Wednesday night is a 32 year old U.S. Army enlisted soldier.
