In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, I would just call that one a tragic accident.

Free diving to 10M would not normally be seen as being especially risky.

I bet the poor bugger hyperventialted like crazy before diving, for more than one reason, overstayed thanks to adrenalin, blacked-out on ascent and drowned. I find that very sad, not a Darwin contender IMHO.

How about the woman who ordered and ate a sausage roll and then went ballistic when she discovered it contained.. sausage meat?
She says she has been a vegan "for two years" which means that, given her reported age of 20, she spent perhaps 17 years eating meat.
Probably not a current candidate for a Darwin award but seems to be working diligently toward her future membership.

Darwin Awards are usually bestowed on corpses. I don't think this woman's life was ever in danger.

Sausages contain meat?

When was the last time you saw a beef sausage?
I have seen sausages described as Lincolnshire, Cumberland or Chipolata , whatever they put in them but meat?
I have seen some described pork so I suppose some do have meat👩*🌾

I gather Greggs offer a vegan sausage roll so did she actually specify the vegan version or was she simply stupid enough to just ask for a sausage roll?

Perhaps I should have been traumatised by an occurance some years ago in Brighton when I ordered a beef lasagne and was inadvertently served the vegetarian version. The staff realised as I tucked in and came over to apologise and offered to replace it: I declined as I was quite happy to eat it. My mistake, I should have had a tantrum, bleated about my terrible experience on every brand of social media going and demanded considerable compensation, if possible in cash...

Fowl play

A man has died after being struck and killed by a train at Fairy Meadow in New South Wales' Illawarra region this afternoon.
NSW Ambulance was called to Fair Meadow train station around 3:45pm this afternoon, following reports a man in his late 30s had been sucked under a carriage.
Five crews were dispatched to the scene and paramedics assessed two men while the third, the man who was struck, was declared deceased at the scene.

The two men were treated for minor injuries and extreme shock.
It is believed the men were allegedly playing "chicken" with the train prior to the accident.

Man accidentally shoots dead son-in-law

A man accidentally shot dead his son-in-law after mistaking him for an intruder when he flew thousands of miles to surprise him.

Christopher Bergan, 37, flew 4,500 miles from Norway to Florida to surprise his wife's dad, Richard Dennis, for his 61st birthday.
But when he jumped out of bushes in Mr Dennis's back garden, the older man mistook Mr Bergan for an intruder and shot him.

No shortage today

Some times too much PN, local butcher was charged for not putting enough fat in his snags as per regulations.

Usual complaint was the butcher putting too much filler in his sausages. He said he was having trouble making both ends meat.

Fishing, a gentle and sedate pastime sat on the banks of a languid river or canal casting in the hope of enticing a fish to bite ......but, such mundane activity is for the faint hearted !.....what could possibly go wrong when you fearlessly seek to be the holder of this "once in a lifetime " award !......note the dedication of the one in the middle of the film clip......

K&C, I've seen a seagul go down a much smaller 'glory hole' intake, so I'm bloody sure I wouldn't go within a bull's roar of one. When it happens, it happens very quickly.

oh alright, you twisted my rubber arm.

seems his technique was a bit too toothy. Or in other words, it sucked. He bit off more than he could chew. Notice he gets up once and is given some attention to help his breathing but then can’t resist another bite of the cherry, sorry cucumber.

Not sure where they are carrying him to. Maybe to try and revive him or maybe throw his body in a dumpster. But whatever, the show must go on..

The eligibility rules for Darwin Awards perhaps need re-iterating as many of the nominations these days seem way wide of the mark:

1. Subject must be physically capable of siring offspring
2. Subject is so mind-numbingly stupid that offspring seems like a really bad idea
3. Subject uses aforementioned stupidity to render themselves incapable of siring offspring, either through death or appropriate dismemberment.
