Scottish court has found the prorogue to be unlawful, the government is appealing to the Supreme Court.

The English court found it lawful, and Gina Miller et all are appealing to the Supreme Court.

Both cases will be combined and heard together, probable within the next two weeks.

Lord Sumption, recently retired Supreme Court judge considers it lawful, and that the Supreme Court will find likewise.

We will find out in due course.

Don't disagree, but the Conservatives are also tainted by the friends they keep, both now and in the past. Recall their fondness for Pinochet and the apartheid regime in South Africa. Their current relationships with unsavoury nations in the Middle East, and closer to home cosying up to the DUP is hardly modern or progressive and a million miles away from the fundamentals of One Nation Conservatism.

There was a quote from a minister in a Bond fillum, along the lines of: "Don't be so naive, if we only dealt with nice countries there'd be no-one left to deal with!"

Truth n fiction etc.

Legal opinion seems to indicate that the case succeeded in Scotland, but failed in England, due to the differences in the legal systems. Since the Supreme Court works under English law the case is seen to have, effectively, zero chance of succeeding next week.

But it gives those who raised it and the opposition a week for more political theatre.

Twitter thread below worth reading in full.

So the U.K. will be screwed up, potentially for decades to come, due to a protest vote by a politically illiterate underclass. And leaving the EU will in no way improve their lot in life?

Any chance of the case being referred up to the ECJ?
That really would be fun.

That's certainly one view (that has been around since the day of the referendum if not before).

Fact is, objective and well thought out reasons for leaving are hard to come by.

That's because there aren't any. Never have been and never will be.

Ah ah ah, why not ?
Now, the worst might finally not happen (only the bad...)
There are small signs that your PM might begin to cave in and accept something strongly resembling May's Deal.
Maybe with some changes in the names of paragraphs, another font, just to save face...

I'm afraid that many of the reasons for leaving touted by the Brexiteers are based around 'The Germans bombed our chippy' variety. There are British immigrants to Spain who voted to leave the E.U. based on the fact that there were too many immigrants in Britain. they also do not see themselves as immigrants, but 'expats'
