Damn FOD in the UK one of the most numerous FOD items are rulers, there is always one in the photographs of FOD found.

Being an engineer and being on Jet Blast, I had to look it up.

"Ruler" is just a 15th century variation of "rule," which comes, via French, from Latin "regula," which meant a measuring stick, a diminutive derived from "regere," to straighten, lead, or guide

According to the first internet post I saw when I Googled it. So it must be right.

There, I can sleep more soundly tonight.
