320ECAM. The Saudia Tristar DID have a dyslexic engineer, BUT it did not crash, was landed safely, taxied off the runway, and then everybody was overcome by smoke etc.,

Without speaking ill of the dead. The a/c landed alright. However the evacuation was delayed until it was too late. There was a Royal departure at the time and as these things get heady most people wouldn't take the risk of saying boo for the fear of incuring the wrath of the authorities. Just one more case in history of fire on board, that may not have been taken as seriously as it could have been. I am sure this vip departure was a contributory factor. IIRC.

I heard that they couldn't evacuate because the heat of the fire had welded the outflow valves shut and they couldn't open the doors. Also, there were 20+ people in the flight deck all crammed together trying to escape the heat, inhibiting the crew. The BBC 'trial by television' documentary on the accident was apparently overblown and inaccurate.

At least, that is what we were told in one of my airline's safety courses.

Captain turns to the dyslexic FO and says: Can you smell petrol?

FO: Smell petrol? Can't even spell my own name!

A bloke walks along a beach. He sees a box labelled Dymanite. He glares at it and gives it a petulant kick.

L.R.

My favourite joke, ever. It appeared in Private Eye many many years ago.

I wish I still had a copy of it.

Not quite dislex', but.

F/O on command upgrade is taxying the a/c and misses the turning. TRE, "Oy, didn't you see the arrows?"
"Arrows? Didn't even see the indians." Boom Boom.

Registrations of T67M and Baseball caps

I wondered about that too, especially as it is quite easy to match it with CTC aviation from the 12 registered SLINGSBY T67M260's listed on Ginfo, with a little digging. I still wonder wy my aircraft registrations and my address are freely available to all and sundry on Ginfo.

However I was more concerned about the baseball cap with the peak pulled well down over the instructors eyes obscuring much of the field of view. I would not dream of doing unusual attitudes or aerobatics with such a restriction to my vision and would not care to be sharing airspace with anyone who was. It certainly is detremental to look out. Glider pilots are specifically asked not wear them whilst flying by the BGA and any instructor found to be flying with one on or allowing a student to wear one will be censured. I realise this is just "TV World" and I have no idea what sort of service was being recieved or from where or class of airspace was being used etc but it would have been nice to have heard the HASELL checks being done and an emphasis made about look out during the manouvres.

Ah, the HASELL checks. She of the brown eyes & sandy hair at the pilots' local. I came across her when someone told me to 'check out Hazel', or "let's go down to the XYZ and do some Hazel checking." She had me flipperty flip in a twirl. Giros toppled before my 3rd pint. Happy days, painful mornings.

AFAIK, there is no Episode 3. The first episode shown on Monday 14th August was billed as a new series 1/3, but the following Monday's episode was shown as 2/2.

Interesting. Like eeeaddict, I felt sure they had made - and were advertising - three episodes when they were busy promoting the programme at every opportunity. I wonder if the third one has been quietly shelved?
