None of them. Hanging is the quickest, most certain and most humane if done properly.

Depends who it's for. I guess for most people it should be something quick and humane, but if it's for (say) Ivanka then death by a thousand fashion parades or similar...

Of course the USA could progress into the 21st Century and abolish the death sentence/penalty all together.

Death Sport Reality TV where anyone can apply to be the executioner. Once the show is revealed to be fixing it for ratings that's the end of the death penalty.

Expressing the justified opinion about the US, with regard to the barbarity of capital punishment, is not slagging off the USA.

The death penalty is another JB perennial topic and one which most people have a very definite view towards.

I am deeply opposed to it.

Neither is it mandatory to be eternally nice about the USA, or the UK for that matter.....unless you lack the capability to be both objective and subjective about both nations that is.

But when the sentence is wrong, there is no reprieve.

I think the death penalty is gruesome in the extreme and has no place in today's society.

In fact, save for a few exceptions, the death penalty is what separates the civilised world from the uncivilised world.

Like many of us my reaction to a particularly heinous crime is imposition of the death penalty. However I agree with Sally Anne, also I suspect that life (as in life) may often prove a better punishment, rather than a quick way out.

Not in this life - agreed. But if you believe in a much higher authority than the human race, then it matters not one jot what we do. And that will be my one and only comment on the matter.

Even if their was 100% certaintly of the guilt, it would still be wrong. In those jurisdictions where the death penalty is not colour blind or is applied unequally it is murder.

Firing squad for me; every time(!)

I really can't see the objection with 5 or 6 'qualified' executioners (law enforcement or military), one or more of whom is given a blank cartridge, so none of them ultimately knows who fired the fatal shot. Simple, cheap, fast and highly effective. What's not to like???

Reminds me of the Gary Gilmore case from the late 1970s. I believe he donated his eye corneas and other organs to medicine and science. Win-win all round.

In fact I still have the song The Adverts made of it on my iPhone.
