Interesting murkiness going on in Egypt with BA cancelling flights for a week (a significant time), LH for one day (kneejerk?), no one else and Egyptian Civil Aviation Auth. increasing capacity to the UK, even adding a new flight to LHR.
No one, absolutely no one, is offering anything even close to specifics, just the usual Sinai warnings, north and south.
So, who has a beef with Britain at the moment? Known bad actor(s) currently in play, something new
or perhaps just the historically poor Egyptian airport security (read personnel)?

Today is National Ice Cream Day in the States.
Good timing with their current heat wave.
Ice cream consumption is an average 20 lbs. per person a year.

Yeah, I don't doubt that Americans put on 20lbs a year from eating ice cream.

To the 30-something woman I just had a spat with in Tesco.

1. When you go food shopping, it is polite to only unload your basket at the till when you have finished selecting your purchases.
2. To nip off quickly and pick up an item you forgot is one thing; to be gone for five minutes and return with armfuls of cleaning products is quite another.
3. To then stare at length at the labels on the cleaning products and your phone instead of packing the bags while the assistant is scanning your purchases is rude.
4. To suddenly squeal "I forgot rubber gloves" and rush off, leaving a fuming fellow customer and an embarrassed check out assistant who also packed your bags for you is out of order.
5. To return another three or four minutes later with six additional items is just seriously taking the pi$$.
6. If you do these things without apologising you will be on the receiving end of a sarcastic "thank you so much for wasting my time".
7. Yes other tills are available; however I had already unpacked my basket thinking the abandoned items belonged to the elderly lady who was then being processed and I had no idea you had gone for a promenade around the store.
8. You may think I'm impatient; I think you are a selfish, entitled, thoughtless, pathetic, nasty waste of space.
9. I'm no expert on fashion but, honestly, stretch fit leopard print leggings on an ar$e as fat as yours is not a good look.

Ah, that's better, glad I got that off my chest!

Religious edict in haredi town of Elad says canines are forbidden because they
bark at people and may scare them: ‘And because of its bark it is a bad dog even
if does not bite’

How to tell someone is British.

1. REALLY P them off.
2. Receive a "Thank you so much!" in response.

@Treadigraph. I take it you were annoyed then? I have calmed down over the years but I used to abandon the trolley and just walk out if it got too much. You could have admixed some of your items with hers in her absence and then just left. Perhaps you are annoyed that you didn't recognise all the stratagems at your disposal - staircase wit and all that

With eggs and bacon in my shopping and a late breakfast almost with sniffing distance? No chance...

Oh Dear! Just found the thread on Page 2 - we'll be needing a submarine soon if this continues.

treadigraph,
You forgot the rest
10. It is allowed to get out the purse/wallet before the till person has finished putting all your items through, and before you have packed them all away.
11. It is allowed to get out and inspect all of your vouchers before you are told the total.
12. You do not have to continue your phone conversation. Telephones have a very good process for calling back later.

Ancient Observer, having successfully avoided the place ever since it's been open, I've been to Primark in Croydon three times this week to buy odd bits for a friend who's currently hors de combat in hospital. Prices are certainly keen, can't comment yet on the quality but a few of the people shopping in there... oh dear... Mind you, at 2 a pop, their tshirts are good value, I mostly either get paint on mine or catch 'em in the brambles or holly while out walking. I might pop in there again first thing on Tuesday...

In other news, Purley Way (just over the hill from me) sounds like Brands Hatch. I think the local Organ Doners' Club are on a ride out. Just waiting for the merry warble of ambulances...

Organ doners! Can you get them in a kebab shop?

Primark eh? Tried their underpants once and only once, they fell to bits without any output from me. Recently our local Oxfam charity shop was selling end-of-line M&S underpants and socks at 1.99 a pair. Mrs H has stocked me up with the above and they are top drawer. Unless my feet and girth grow I will never need to buy socks or underpants again.

RbG We look forward to puppy piccies.

Skewered! What a mistaka to maka! That's why everyone rolls their eyes and says "shish" when they go past...

Testing the first batch of local cherries. Nice and plump. Tasty but lacking some sweetness.
Warmth was kind of slim on the ground this spring and so far this summer here.

Winter is like summer here, shorts and t-shirts are the go, at least until the sun goes down. Glorious deep blue skies, crisp fresh air. Godzone.
