"India's national airline has told its crew to end every in-flight announcement with the patriotic phrase, "Jai Hind" (Hail the motherland).
Air India's company advisory instructs crew to say the phrase after a "slight pause and with much "fervour".
But many wondered if patriotism was the right focus for the struggling airline.
Air India, which is in severe debt, has not turned a profit since 2007 and a recent government offer to sell a controlling stake in it failed to attract any takers." bbc

Would love to meet the boardroom buffoon who thought that up or the government airheads who told them to do it..

Don't know if they still do it, but on a couple of Saudia flights there was an announcement of a prayer for a safe arrival. I preferred a good pre-flight.

Reminds me of the old joke where the Pope kisses the ground after getting off an Alitalia plane.

I'm actually drinking a rum and coke as I read this.

Found a few crates in the cabin, possibly purloined from lifeboat No 5.

Some parts of the US are under severe Tornado watches.
One forecaster said - if you live in a mobile home - Get Out !. You are safer in your car than in a mobile home !

There does seem to be some uncanny homing ability tornados have with mobile homes.

Wunderground severe weather map isn't showing anything yet. There are a lot of mobile homes/ trailers in the US and many houses are lightweight affairs parked on a slab. The tornados don't have to be that discriminating. Odd that they seem to miss major built up areas but may be the stats can explain it in terms of proportion of ground covered. Poisson distribution I guess

Strange, I was in Iceland today and it was chucking it down and blowing a gale. Then I went to Morrisons and bought some milk and sultanas to make me porridge.
