Have spent the last week assembling the 'Leave to Remain' documents to send off to the Home Office for Senora Lars' next visa extension. Unbelievable 78 page application form!

With all the supporting documents (all originals), the whole package was 5 inches thick and weighed almost 2 kgs.

God I hate dealing with government documentation!

'Leave to Remain' has to be one of the more stupid uses of English by officialdom.

'You have to apply for Leave to Remain.'

'No, no, I wanna stay!'

"Yes, you need leave.'

'But I no wanna leave!'

'I'm sorry, sir, but leave is essential for you to stay.'

'I no unnerstan' - why canna I no just stay?'

'Because ....

etc, etc ...

GrumpyOldFart, I saw the same thing on my VISA statement. I keep receiving a copy of my statement. I do pay it but I need to know why I don't receive an original statement.

presumably the original statement exists on the Visa computer, in little electrons and holes and stuff which, as we know, never go wrong.
Therefore you can only ever expect a copy.

Good question. Also seems to have disappeared completely from that other place where he was posting regularly.

In addition to my earlier post, there are no signs yet of any interesting wildlife.
