One from the BBC web page, relating how Sophie Raworth collapsed during the 2011 London Marathon:
" In 2011 Ms Raworth collapsed during the London Marathon when her core temperature rose to 106C but went on to finish the race".
106C! Really?

No wonder she confused her C’s with her F’s. 106F = 41C I could believe - just

Summer continues here. Mr Sun at full throttle, a little bit of fine weather
cloud and a forecast high of 24C. Marvellous.

On this day in 1930 the BBC announced at the 20:45 bulletin

"Good evening. Today is Good Friday, there is no news"

And the rest of the 15 minutes was taken up with piano music.

Better bump this thread back up a bit. It's the other, random stuff that's knocked it to the bottom of the page.

T'were indeed a bit hot today. One has had to have some refrigerated Wobbly to cool down.

Morning folks.

T'is belter already outside - better get the factor 50 ready.

Getting ready for the two grandsons night-stopping for a couple of nights; should be fun. One has plans to wear them out but not sure if it will be me who succumbs first.

Lucky you, it's overcast here and misty.
I would image Mr Sun will be burning his way through it soon though.

It's FRIDAY

I admit to being baffled by my fellow English folk.

[RANT]After spending several months complaining about the cold weather we finally get a nice warm(ish) couple of days and THEY TURN THE BLOODY AIR CONDITIONING ON AT FULL BLAST!!! [/RANT]

I'm freezing in here, sitting with my body warmer on.

Seems LPs are continuing to gain in popularity, year over year.
Best explanation for the better sound was from some older tech type who said:

"Ears are analog. Ears can't hear digital."

My daughter bought her partner a record player for his birthday. He still has a substantial collection of LP’s from yesteryear.

That techie also said the best turntables were made in the 70s.

I'm sure there are a few out there now, designing ultra stable ones and trying to figure out how to make the bases out of depleted uranium and
old battleship anchors.

All calm at present. CAVOK, +8C and a gentle wind at 2 kts but the TAFF
portends a rumbling later. Prob 40 of gusts of 25 kts, 5000m, heavy showers,
rain, thunderstorms and hail. So that was Summer then.

Shift change as the IF had a night off while the Cramp Fairies covered their
duties. Same result but with pain.

On this day in 1983 pound coins replaced notes in England and Wales.

Morning folks.

Awoken by the sound of No 2 grandson making his waking up noises. At the moment is is quiet mumbling and muttering as he plays with some toys but I expect it will shortly develop into a full-blooded "GRAANDAAAD/NAAAANNNY"!!! in a few minutes.

So have I. About 120 or so IIRC.

And still purchase them when and if I happen to see any that I want.
