G-CPTN. When my dear late wife was in the latter stages of Alzheimer's she would sing along with me our favorite songs from way back. She was note and word perfect but could barely speak when trying to converse. Music certainly occupies a unique place in the brain.

My early childhood was like that Ricardian and they were such happy days, I am sure we lived through a better society then, lots of poverty maybe but lots of family love and everyone looking after each other. In this day and age all we seem to hear is people wanting something for nothing and blaming the government of the day if they don't get it and pointless rules stopping people having a good life..In the "old'n" days the bad buggers were kept in line for most of the time by the good but now the bad buggers realise that our society enables them to get away with 95% of what they do..
Rant over/......

Morning folks.

Cloudy and overcast, but quite mild outside.

There's no more days left of this year; didn't anyone think of getting some more in? I suppose we'll have to start another year tomorrow.

HNY to you all.

Tripartite war has apparently been declared - Magpies v Jackdaws v Pigeons setting about each other in the garden

Pigeons taking regular breaks to eat the food that the others are fighting over.

Hello to all. My 10 year anniversary recently lapsed in these hallowed walls. Although I've never contributed much I've really enjoyed the comradeship and support you have for each other. I wish you all a Happy New Year along with health and happiness and a special thank you to the Admiral himself, keep your chin up Mr Draper, this ship has many miles to go.
Trab support to those in need.

And another Happy New Year wish to one and all from deepest, darkest Oz. Well, not really dark ... it's glaring sunshine and a fairly warm 31 degrees C at the moment. Ibbie, the slacker, has started hauling that hot yellow thing back up his way but as usual he's being very slow about it.

I hope 2018 is filled with happiness and health for all of you and that nothing bad happens to any of us.

Happy New Year folks. Did you go first-footing Mr D?

Woken from slumbers by No 1 grandson who is stopping over with his brother. The pair of them have yet to fully understand the term "peace and love" and have been rehearsing WWIII over some Lego. Peace and tranquility was restored when breakfast was served - amazing stuff food.

Happy New Year folks.

Spoke to TbFrank last night. He sends his regards from hospital. He thinks the corner has been turned and he is on the up, but very tired.

Was like a war zone here last night with the mad Mexican family over the hedge and wall, having had enough explosives to bang their way for an hour and a quarter into the new year. Dogs were terrified. No colour or displays, just loud bangs. Think they need a visit from President Trumpet.

Felicitations to all.
A little under the weather this morning owing to late night and too much Glen Moray.

A gentle stroll is called for with a drop into the pub on the way.
This will be followed by lunch and then a dose of picolax to get rid of it all
in preparation for a having a dialysis catheter fitted into my abdomen tomorrow.
2018 brings it's own delights.

Police helo hovering nearby - usually indicates a misper.

River level is moderate - one metre out of 5.8 maximum.

Sounds of two-tones - not usually associated with mispers - maybe it's a robbery (on New Year's Day?) or a hit and run.

Happy New Year to one and all. Pleased to see things seem to be improving for a couple of shipmates.
Health and happiness!
