One's afternoon siesta was disturbed by a heavy knock on the door. It was a man from National Grid saying someone had reported a gas leak at my house. "Really?" sez I.

Anyway, man has a probe for detecting gas leaks so he sets about searching for alleged leak. He doesn't detect any leaks but decides to change the regulator on the gas meter as it should have been changed years ago, he claimed. "I'll turn the gas off whilst I do it".

On hearing this, Mrs 4ma says she's just put the chicken in the oven and will it be alright whilst he changes the regulator. Man says "Not a problem. should only be a couple of minutes". Out of earshot of the gasman, I remind Mrs 4ma that our oven is electric.

Start of another week.
Sunny spells, the odd shower and a high of 19C predicted.

Nothing further to say until I wake up properly.

Did you catch many?

When we have major cycle races here there are usually dozens of motorcyclists that run head of the cyclists and 'block off' the junctions until the official (usually police) arrive and take over.

There were two of us, traffic control on the corners. We were there for accident assist, call for help for break downs and act as a mobile cheer squad. Its a bit of fun.

We might get 6 or 7 riders for the 360Km courses

One for Mr D.

It seems that the idea for an umbrella began in a country directly south of England but when an Englishman
named Jonas Hanway was the first to parade an umbrella in 18th century England he was ridiculed.
Umbrella usuage was symptomatic of a weakness of character, particularly among men. Few ever dared
to be seen with such a detestable effeminate contraption.

( Isn't this contraption now a required part of the uniform of those who work in the financial section
of the city? )

Talk about a not very pleasent person, the Judge said "This is a woman who has the most appalling record of dishonesty
offending I have ever seen. I think it is the public interest that her image is published"
During the past 40 years Gwena Bush has amassed more than 600 dishonesty convictions, filling 57 pages of a court file,
for using fabricated sob stories to rip off charities.

So guess how long she will be in prison then?

2 years? 3 years? or 5 years?

Answer is:- NONE of the above she has 1 year home detention.

For the story:-

Morning peeps,a tad overcast here, puter crash yesterday, took me most of the day to sort it,lost all me bookmarks and such, never mind, all fettled now.
Read once that wistwatches were regarded as exceedingly effeminate when the were first introduced, and only chaps of a certain persuasion would be seen wearing em,real men wore a pocket watch and gold chain in thier westcoat pocket.

Had the ST for about 5 years, (130000 Ks)

It goes well, and is great for marshaling pushbikes.

Always professional Bluey

Good grief, we'd dropped off the bottom of the page.
Up we go.

Back to having Mr Sun about this morning.
Makes a nice change from yesterday's gloom.

Today is the anniversary of the birth in 1887 of Rupert Brooke
without whom we would not have :-

If I should die, think only this of me
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is forever England.

Have been watching an excellent series about the railways on BBC "Full Steam Ahead"

BBC Two - Full Steam Ahead

It's presented by Ruth Goodman, Alex Langlands and Peter Ginn, none of whom are afraid to get their hands dirty in the interests of the documentary. Funny and informative. Also, some absolutely beautiful trains and engines.
