Back from a day of slashing, chopping, cutting and burning. Gainsey would have be proud! The site has been cleared except for a couple of trees which require the attention the professional chainsaw wielders.

Tree felling plan problem "solved" - blamed on a dodgy printer. Yeah, right!!

Ironing uniform shirts.

Not going to miss that when I retire!

Bright and sunny our, temps below zero at night and above during day.

Half the road surfaces clean, other half covered in sheet ice from daytime snow melt.

Tricky to put on shoe spikes absolute necessity for keeping upright on the ice, and horrible to walk on asphalt.

Cold world problems.

0C here but no frost for the first time in days.
Cloudy but sun forecast for later.

More work in the garden planned for later but a pair of kippers need
seeing to first.

And of course more tea.

Bright but bitterly cold day at 59N. Absolutely flat sea all around the island, Beaufort Scale Zero "calm". Most unusual up here. Lovely day for walking now that yesterdays snow has vanished.
Pig's liver & onions for lunch!
More TRABB force for Mr Draper, hope we will soon see him posting on here again

I think I'd swap with you in a heartbeat, Juud ... after today's 40 degrees C! We never get snow here and I'd love to see it again!

Several of you here will know of the problems that my son and the rest of my family have had over contact with his two children, which has been going on for a long time. It has been very upsetting.
My son finally got a hearing and an order for the way forward as regards contact with his children at the High Court in mid January. Today, nearly four years after we last saw or spoke to our grandchildren, Mrs IB and I have had a Skype video call with them.
Quite emotional.
Thank you to all that have supported us to get this far on this journey. We know it is not over, but we have a start.

Respect, Sir . . .

Best I could find - I suspect my hearing isn't up to hearing the higher notes.

I imagine that the FSL is unable to communicate (or, even, to read the comments until his nephew returns with his iPad).
