Morning folks from decision day country.

Just been corresponding with our UK agent for Greece, oddly enough business is slow. Who is going to rush over here on holiday with such uncertainty in the air. We should be benefiting from the no-go zones in North Africa, guess they are going to Turkey instead.

Two weeks to go until we return to Bots and I still haven't painted our doors. Must find some self discipline from somewhere.

Sorry I forgot to post the photo of my new bar on the Blue Star Patmos. Not exactly an officer's drinking vessel but it was all there was. Archway to the Apollo Temple Naxos in the background, about 540 BC but that is boring compared to the foreground.

Morning folks.

Another Sunday...another invasion of Leo and Bella awaited.

Just thankful the phone didn't ring last night. Was a little apprehensive when 21.30 approached.

Another blue, hot day.

Another trip to the Sunday local.

Another BBQ.

Several more beers.

........and to cap it all aunty now has pneumonia to add to a UTI. At least she knows I'm not hiding behind the curtains in the hospital now.

Morning all from Var, where it is Too Darned Hot. We are one week into our hols. So far the highest temp was 42 in the carpark in Cannes. Still we're better off here than at home, because there's a heatwave there and at least here we have the pool.

Actually it's a beautiful spot, glorious evening light, marred only by the muted sounds of Mother and Husband bickering as I force down another medicinal white wine. Have taken to drinking Petit Chablis, heavily diluted with San Pellegrino and lots of ice - bit philistinish, but too hot for anything else.

May pop down to Antibes for Sunday lunch.

Morning. Raining here.

Girls did very well beating the Germans, not often our football teams manage that. As nigel says, they just seem more committed than the men. Why worry when you're on 200 grand a week?

Woody, Ibbie and others who need it -- The Trabbforce is strong and aimed at you.

Forgot to add birthday greetings to joy ride yesterday. Consider it belatedly done.

Woody, I did say it was not an officer's drinking vessel. It was draught, what was I supposed to do, drink it from the tap? I am going to send one of my squadron tankards to them to hang over the bar for my next passage.

Greetings Pop Pickers,

slight haze over this side of the bay taking the edge off things, although heading for 33 today and another heatwave warning for the week ahead, mainly for the middle and North, the good people of the Southern Coast being restricted to a mere 36. Should be much less humid so not too bad.

I thought that Woody, subject 8/10, composition 5/10 but PLASTIC, come on. Surely an Orficer can do better than that. I see the excuses are in while I type.

Twisted Shoulder in Mucky's yesterday and put it back a few days, so do little and ice packs today before she with magic hands tomorrow.
I feel I am becoming an ageing demic. Allergy to summat, aches and pains all over, think I'll go back to the damp.

I was a member of a private Club once, a tad more like Arthur Daily's Winchester Club than Whites mind, the club secretaries son got a job as a salesman for a company the produced those plastic glasses, one day we came in to find our pints being served in plastic pint glasses, they lasted about two days before the mutiny occurred.
Serving a Geordie his pint in a plastic glass is near as bad as serving him his ale in a thick glass.

That photo of the plastic glass brought back memories of my student days and the plastic Skiffs that we were forced to drink from in the Hall bars.
Skiff I assume was the trade name of the maker.

Here's a photo of me in my student times with pals

Two phone calls from "Private" this morning, which I simply have not answered. Stuff whoever it is.

On the subject of drinking out of plastic, it unfortunately is a decree and must from the Corporation of Manchester, if drinking outside at licensed premises. It is also a decree from those ....holes at Network Rail if you are drinking "outside" the bar, even if under a station roof...for example, what was once the Balcony Bar at Piccadilly Station, which has a new name these days. Set of clowns!
