Angel Memorial fund raiser for West Lakes

It is with the greatest sadness and heavy heart that I regret to inform the PPRuNe community that west lakes died earlier today in a Cumbrian hospital.

Most of you will know that he had been battling cancer for some years now, starting with a mole that led to small nodules on his lungs. However at the beginning of September he started getting bad headaches and it was discovered that there was a secondary tumour in his brain. Thankfully the end was peaceful and relatively swift.

He leaves behind his adored wife Sue and their beloved son Tez, along with his much maligned but loved caravan.

I will inform you of funeral details as and when I hear about them

The funeral is on Tuesday 13th oct at 2pm at:
Distington Hall Crematorium, Distington, Workington, Cumbria CA14 4QY

Then after at:
The Chase Hotel, Corkickle, Whitehaven, Cumbria CA28 8AA

.
.
.
Arthur's family have stipulated family flowers only at his funeral but wondered whether people would consider donating a small amount in his name to the chosen charities? To that end Brockenspectre has created a fundraising page for Westie.

Very saddening. When we lose one of the regulars, the reactions show how real the bonds are between members. I'm sure he enjoyed that over the many years.

Thoughts with his family.

For those of you who didn't know, Arthur was also an excellent DJ and sound man.

Go in peace my friend.

So very sad to hear about the loss of a good friend, who was a caring, witty, intelligent, and honest gentleman.

His loss will leave many of us with deep sadness, but we should also remember with joy how he touched our lives and made the world a better place.

RIP Sparky, aka Westie

Very sad to read this news. Always meant to meet up with West Lakes when we stayed at Silloth during the February half-terms, sadly not to be now. RIP.

This is so, so sad. I assumed from his recent posts he was fighting. I have not been on here for a while, thoughts with all his family and friends. Too soon..
