Some of us also think that the same English disappointment is coming very soon to the other home nations, the only thing the other three nations have achieved so far is local bragging rights and the smart money would suggest that is all that they are going to achieve
Maybe so, but Wales had been (in the literal sense) much more than decimated by the time they qualified. Halfpenny, Davies, Webb, Williams, Amos, Allen and more. No one expected us to get out of the pool, but we did- some serious pundits opine that we have exceeded 2011's achievements already. I'm happy already, and most of Wales is too.

And Australia won't be resting anyone on Saturday, that's for sure.

Maybe in your eyes where it appears unless you are in the final and win then its not a competition.

For everybody else its still going on.

Agreed Racedo: Canada v Romania was an excellent match earlier, and well attended. If you like rugby, a feast has been on offer in the pool matches.

Japan SA was one of the most entertaining spectacles I've ever witnessed. Italy Canada was another cracker, as was England Wales for a neutral like me.

Fair dos Australia No arguments from any of the Taffs I've messaged so far. Best no-tries game I recall- such a shame we didn't capitalise on the double yellow.

Aussies were just too strong, Wales gave 110%.

Agree TTN. Certainly had me on the edge of my seat.

Same with the Welsh/Aussie game. I was willing Wales over the Aussie line
but those Aussies were great defenders. Excellent rugby fest day, though I became bored with the England/Uruguay match and turned it off!

Because England were the only team to get a BP against Fiji, if they had kicked the points against Wales and drawn, they would have gone through instead.

I was watching the pre game build up on ITV for the England game. Dallaglio, Wilkinson and Woodward were in the studio slaughtering Lancaster. They just didn't get that Australia and Wales have better players and are better teams. There's absolutely no shame in losing to better teams guys!

Dallaglio also suggested Woodward should be English director of Rugby or some such. Terrible idea, he would completely overshadow the head coach and have too much influence.

Looking forward to France v Ireland today. I think the French will beat us, we haven't looked impressive and of 7 previous world cups, France have made 2 finals and 5 semi finals, they always click eventually.....

I thought Wilkinson was trying really hard not to be too critical of Lancaster but finding it difficult. Woodward really let loose though but it's hard to disagree with him. Lancaster has been a disaster. Starting with his selecting a squad without an open side flanker in it. Then the inclusion of Burgess, the indecisiveness over his best centre pairing and the disruptive substitutions when they had Wales beaten. I thought that as a decent man he would surely resign as he must know how bad he has been but I've seen one article this morning saying that he says he won't.

No complaints from this Welshman about the result last night. As Warburton said, Australia deserved to win.

On another day, it could have gone our way, but that's sport!

Sarcasm mode on: Still, we've had our world cup final by beating England (or rather them throwing it away, apparently)... : Sarcasm mode off.

Nuts to that way of seeing things! As ever in sport, the team with the most points at the final whistle is the winner, not the recipient of a gift. I don't think the Aussies think they were 'given' those 11 wins by Wales.

And what an excellent game. Could have gone either way but the Springboks deserved their win.

Being English I just want the All Blacks to thrash France.
