The gradual demise of Trabb

With sudden and not really obvious reasons therefore of banning of a number of contributors, whose input would you or do you miss the most if they have been or were to be banned?

I've got my own mental list of which I reproduce some examples here.

My list is not exhaustive; those not mentioned should not take offense, naturally

So, my list:

Drapes: too canny to get banned, so OK, no problems
Con-pilot: a steady voice bridging UK / USA with a foot in both camps, and a good sense of balance
Handsfree: I enjoy reading
Octopussy: very pragmatic, very personal styled posts
Angels: not from a background overly appealing to me, but seems like a very genuine sort of cove
The hispanic contingent (Wod & Ib) always add an exotic note.
Exascot and his grecian african anecdotes were always entertaining. banned it appears
Was never a fan of slasher. Bit too crude for me.
Bluey's puns
Lon More: Like his moderating counterbalance to right wing dogma
Oddly enough, sitilegleft whose almost obsessional anti left wing stance is hard to take, but has a canny view on life outside of politics. Would miss him.
rgbrock1: a man with a background so different to mine, but with an outlook which appeals to me
421dog: gave me a detailed answer to a PM. I was grateful for that (medical matters)

I will have missed a few, forgive me.

I have not listed those who irritate seven kinds of shit out of me.

As well as you, wingsfolded and the other Trabbists you've mentioned, I'd add Limeygal - always enjoy her musings from Florida, usually with some envy, and Beaufort - life sounds so tranquil on Alderney.

I don't think anyone on the Trab thread actually annoys me (there are others who don't feature on that thread who I consider to be out and out loons). I miss Juud's contributions, a lot.

There are many more who could be added, but it was getting late and I did say the list was not exhaustive, so nobody should be offended because of their omission

What's with the scrambled links?

Folks I used to enjoy reading are gone, and their whereabouts are hidden. Nacht und Nebel?

I think airship was given some time off after a rather indiscreet post, verging on the disgusting.

I have a theory, completely unsupported by evidence.

Whoever runs this site measures how many sales are made via advertisers on particular threads.

Contributors to Jet Blast being by and large canny folk, do not fall for the crappy deals offered. There are therefore hardly any purchases per hit on the threads.

Ergo, some witless accountant decides that the thread should decline to oblivion, best achieved by banning lively contributors on the most flimsy grounds.

Saves a few mega or tetra of space (who cares nowadays?) and he/ she goes home feeling they have done a good job.

Yes

Well, for a start, I'm not in the market for Asian ladies who want to 'date' me.
Nor am I seeking a 'miracle cure' for facial wrinkles.
I think I should say no more for the moment.

nah....

like D.U.I., he who says stupid things under the influence says 'goodbye'

I admire the mods here. They do a great job. I've been censured in the past and fair enough. They keep this place 'equal', and well done to them

p.s mods. I knew that my post on the 'Train attack' thread would be deleted, and fair cop. I still had to say it though, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

You realise of course that the ads you see are based on your recent Google search history

I have (just this weekend) disabled the Adblock Plus within my Opera browser.

I have been deluged by all sorts of adverts - I really don't know how anybody manages to 'surf' with all these adverts occupying every nook and cranny, with false crosses (which should close the advert, but actually open a new window with the advertised topic within.

Back to Adblock Plus!

Just a tip but keep an eye on...
https://history.google.com/history/
you need to check in but all your google history is shown there.
You even have an option to delete it.

The way to avoid some of that is to use https://duckduckgo.com/ instead of Google.

It's said that users aren't tracked. I've certainly never had a problem...
