Not all that useful in the Adam Lanza scenario though, weapon in the car park and teacher/owner in the classroom

I said weapon, and that is what I meant.

Why would any sane person want a weapon? And don't tell me 'protection' as the media is full of reports of people having their protection used against them.

I recall a Mrs Meek (really; that was her name!) asking me in somewhat concerned manner about what we could do if armed terrorists attacked the school. I said that I would hide my class and report to the CCF armory, where I expected the School Sergeant Major would already have arrived and unlocked, and we would arm up and go kill the [email protected] She was much reassured.

Incorrect assumption. All the teacher would need is a LFL. This way, she could still be in the classroom when some nut job like Adam Lanza turns up.

<what is an LFL you ask? A Long F***ing Lanyard>

When ISIS, or some other bunch of radical Islamic thugs start showing up in Switzerland, perhaps your question will become self-evident.

Might be the odd bit of collateral damage don't you think?

Personally, I've never missed. Neither had the School Sergeant Major (former sniper).
You do have to pick your staff carefully of course.

Three practical changes to existing processes that would immediately reduce firearms crime.

1. If somebody shoots a gun deliberately at someone else the charge should be attempted murder and the punishment corresponding. About six months ago we had one gangbanger try to kill another - something like four shots which all missed. The charge was plea bargained to misuse of a deadly weapon. Punishment was something like 2 years and probation. This guy tried to kill somebody and in two years he will be back on the streets with more guns. If he had been a better shot he would have commited murder.

2. Illegal immigrants who commit certain crimes must be effectively deported or locked up. Two murders recently involved illegal immigrants with criminal records who were not arrested prior to their crimes because of bxxlsxxx immigrant protection laws that prevented police picking them up.

3. Mental health problems must be reported correctly. In one actual case someone with mental health problems moved to another State bought a gun legally and killed people because his mental health records from the first State were sealed because of PC privacy laws.

Well Boing that's never going to happen, because as you well know:
1.That gangbanger suffered abuse as a child, and doesn't deserve prison. And, he's a victim of racist whites.
2.Those illegals are actually wonderful people who made this nation great. And
3.Mentally ill folks need their rights protected, not restricted.

Progressives are mostly responsible for these problems, but fail when it comes to solving any of them.

I am sane.
I wanted a weapon.
I bought a weapon.
Why isn't any of your business.
As it turns on, on at least one occasion I brought home some fresh venison thanks to that weapon.
I have the right to choose, so I chose.
You can chose not to, if you live here, and you won't get an guff from me either way.
Too bad such open mindedness is not reciprocated on your part, Ex.

You obviously have not seen the Divonne market on a Sunday morning.

In all seriosness, I'd give a buy for those people.feeding themseves, because they have no other choice, by hunting. This does not include a dentist that decapitated the lion and abandoned the body.

Why would any sane person want a weapon?
One could easily ask that in reverse. I am judged same over the last 62 years, 30 in the US military; presently an active pilot for a largish flight department as a management pilot. I also, in your urban narrow view, a ticking bomb because I have about a dozen firearms in my safe. I shoot 10-15 rounds of clay sports weekly and often pistol and rifle, too. I know dozens of like situated people, men and women, leave in a very liberal, dare I say, socialist state. They range from military officers and enlisted to police and fire to housewives to retirees. Everyone sane.

Amazingly, never caused so much as a peep of harm. Licensed gun owners in the US have proven repeatedly to have lower criminal involvement than the police. The FBI says 1 in a billion firearm discharges in the US results in a death. Your argument maybe perfectly fine in the UK or OZ, but doesn't hold water with the millions of us legal firearms holders

Galaxy flyer - your post is the most ludicrous excuse for 30,000 gunshot deaths that I have ever read on this thread and I have read a few.One in a billion rounds kills someone? Multiply that by 30,000 And it would appear that the U.S. Is under a colossal barrage of gunfire.

Worse than Ferney, ExXB?

GF you're making lazy assumptions - "urban narrow view" indeed. I'm assuming you've not been here.

I never offered it as an excuse, bc; it's an assertion that one, I have rights under US law; two, gun ownership isn't tantamount to killing people. Please reduce your 30,000 by 18,000 suicides.

I belong to one club whicj shoots about 1.2 million cost targets a year, easily 1.3 million discharges there. I'm a member at two other similiarily busy clubs. And that in Massachusetts where there are, at least, 5 or 6 other clubs. Go figure.

30,000 by 18,000 suicides.
And subtract the inevitable scum on scum killings. Isn't there some 100 days and nights thing going on at the moment with some gangs?

42 homicides in Baltimore this month, 37 of them shootings of young or middle-aged black males, 3 stabbings of same, (likely all of them by other young or middle-aged black males) plus one shot Asian pizza deliveryman and one Asian mother-baby murder-suicide. St Louis, MO has similar rates.

If it is not gun owners that are doing the shooting who is killing the 12000 non suicides per year? Reducing the gunshot deaths to homicide victims by FBI figures that required 12 trillion gun discharges?
