Buster Bloodvessel od Bad Manners Fame Seriously Ill in Hospital
Anyone of a certain age in the UK, especially London will recall the band Bad Manners, and particularly its very large lead singer Buster Boodvessel.
Bad Manners were a popular live attraction in North London, with their brand of humorous ska making them comedians of the ska revival scene, with Buster often wagging his large tongue at his audiences. Bad Manners earned nine Top 40 singles between 1980 and 1983, and the band have remained a popular live act throughout Britain and Europe ever since.
I spotted the following report in an online newspaper site purely by accident.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Buster Bloodvessel, the roly-poly frontman of eighties band Bad Manners, is seriously ill in hospital after collapsing on stage during a gig in Italy, it has emerged.
The 30-stone singer, real name Douglas Trendle, was performing his trademark energetic routine during a leg of his European tour last night when he was taken ill. He was taken to hospital in the northern Italian city of Perugia, where doctors diagnosed a strangulated hernia.
While the 40-year-old is in urgent need of an operation, doctors are worried that because of his size he might not survive surgery.
A spokesman for the singer said: 'He is very worried and wants to come home but the doctors have said they must operate. Unfortunately he is so big that any operation could be extremely dangerous.'
Bloodvessel, whose band has had hits with Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew and Can Can, is married with two children, Charleigh, nine, and Trudi, six.
Bad Manners was formed in 1979 and notched up a string of hits during the 1980s.
Bloodvessel, who once owned a hotel in Margate, Kent, called Fatty Towers recently appeared in a TV commercial mocking his poor financial state.

I remember them! Very funny. A bit of a contrast to The Specials who took themselves a bit more seriously.
Busters got to be older than 40 though?! I'm pretty sure he was adult sized
when he was around in the 80s.

I took interest in the original post because I attended a Bad Manners gig circa 1997 whilst at Birmingham University.
Brilliant night. Small venue (One of the halls at the bottom end of the Vale (I was in High hall)) They really did put on a good show.
I presume the original post up above was by someone who came across an old report which didn't make it clear how old the news is.

Unless there was another earthquake in Christchurch last night due to lots of people skanking along to Bad Manners playing live Doug is very much alive and well, I have known him for decades and am seeing him on Sunday.
