Trump gives speech at launch of boeing 787 dreamliner

Boeing proudly shows off the newest member of the Dreamliner family the 787-10 the President was in South Carolina and was suitably impressed saying “That is one beautiful airplane” with the Boeing Dreamliner behind him.
The revamped airliner will seat 330 passengers and hold 15 percent more cargo than another 787. It will be built at the Boeing plant in Charleston.
Boeing says the pressurization of the plane helps reduce jet lag which makes the flying experience more comfortable. It’s also equipped with the latest technology to avoid turbulence.
The company plans to launch its maiden flight in the near future.

It is an interesting observation on what seems to be happening, but was it intentional on the part of the new President? Somehow I doubt it very much, I think it's just a happy accident for him that he found a button to push that would give him an edge.
.

Think of it another way VP959 - Maybe, just maybe, after a month in power the jigsaw is starting to come together and Trumps advisors are starting to brief him with up to date information. Obviously going to cause the Democrats and PDR1 to have a serious bout of the Vapours, but they have lost their grasp on reality and still cannot accept that they lost the election, it wasn't the Democrats God given right to win it but they simply don't see that. I wonder if they realise that their disgusting behaviour on various stages, on the internet and in the streets, if continued, will cost them even more votes?

Bannon may be smart enough to know this and let's not forget, Trump knows very well the power of celebrity and media and the reinforcing echo chamber the two can become.

What the UKIP MP author of the piece left out was how the conversation should focus less on the press involvement in the mechanics of the elevation of a man like Trump and more on the thinking of the people* he clearly resonates with.

That's the problem we face and it's an age old one. As Senator McCain put it, those old ideas of race and blood and sectarianism are just that - old ideas and not worthy of a society (even reasonably well) poised for the future of humanity.

*Who knew there were that many small-minded voters that would not (or failed to have the capacity to) recoil at candidate Trump's numerous widely reported faux pas, vulgarities, and his truth-be-damned 'style'.

Nearly spit my tea on that. Such hubris!

The reality is we're all in a bit of a pickle now, thanks to some misinformed, small-minded voters that have been hoodwinked by the greatest huckster of all.

Don't believe me? Check back in a year or so. Drinks will be on you, thanks. I prefer a place that has a few single malts to choose from, barring that, good beer will be fine, Master ParaB.

I didn't lose any election, old son. But then "knowing about stuff" comes well below "lets do personal attacks when the objective facts don't support a position" in your personal toolbox, it seems.

Grow up.

Careful 763 Jock, you will cause this thread to be dispatched to Jet blast.
This side of the pond, we sort of like the guy and his efforts to drain the swamp.

"Drain the swamp" is a meaningless catchphrase, not even Trump knows what it means, he only started using it simply because people cheered when he said it.

Sorry, I was referring to a year or two ago, when the now-President first seemed to realise that attacking the media got him more publicity from them than he could buy, not the current position where there are pretty astute advisors who may well be utilising that phenomenon to his (and their) advantage.

No disrespect, but I don't think that Donald Trump was really switched-on enough to think up what seems to have been a pretty counter-intuitive way to get free media coverage back then, and that view is supported by the fact that he cancelled planned paid-for media coverage (long before he was elected) when he realised that attacking the media gave him so much free coverage.

I happen to be in general agreement with his views on the media, including our own over here, but then how many people take outlets like Fox News seriously, anyway? I can't say that I have a firm opinion on his policies, really, because it's pretty unclear what they will be, in specific terms, from one day to the next.

Under the guidance and recommendation of military commanders, the attorney general and governor of California was this action taken. It was a different time, of that we can be sure.
You're not helping your cause, the Gov of Calif ( Culbert Olson) and the AG (Francis Biddle) were both Democrats.

While you're pillorying liberals, let's not forget that liberal lion of the Supreme Court, the man best remembered for being on the correct side of history on Civil Rights, 1st Amendment issues, and due process, among his many other landmark rulings, US Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren.
Warren, a Republican, nominated to the SCOTUS by a Republican. Not here to pile on the dems, just can't help myself when the deep thinkers here like sultan rant about Republicans, it's time to school him a little about how the Democratic Party was and still tries to divide people to achieve their goals. You can also rant on about me being wrong, but your fighting an uphill battle against history.

Maiden flight.
He heard "the company plans to launch its maiden flight in the near future" and he wants to sit next to the 72 virgins.

I'm sure more happened in Sweden Friday night - but that was what hit the news.

It would appear we have made some progress here....current events in Europe re Immigrants/Refugees and Trumps concern about what dangers are posed by ineffective vetting might pose are being seen as having some correlation.

Looking back in time....we had Ellis Island which for years screened Immigrants and if some failed to pass the screening done there....were refused entry. That was during the time when it was a long sea voyage and very costly compared to the means most had when they started that trip to the "New World".

We had our own interior migration during the Depression when so many from Oklahoma and Texas headed west and had to endure measures designed to keep them from entering California.

Nations are defined by many aspects....to include their Borders and unless those Borders are controlled....then they lose their sovereignty. How long ago was it that was a practice in Europe?

Today....the UK is confronted with the problem of folks sneaking across from France.

As to Trump manipulating the Media.....the Media, unlike in Obama's case, did not "make" Trump.....in fact they have and are still doing everything they can to destroy him. They failed during the Election and as a result shall not be able to destroy him while he is in Office. Had the media ever turned on Obama he would have been very vulnerable as without their support he would not have succeeded in winning the first Election and darn sure would not have won the second.

Don't worry about Trump....he learned in Business how to work the Media.

Just as other celebrities....Media attention (good or bad) is good as it gets One's Name into the Public's attention. In this case it provides motivation to his Base that, as does Trump, the Mainstream Media are biased party hacks who are allies to the Democrat Party which is controlled currently by the extreme Left Wing of that Party. That in the eyes of the majority of the American People makes them their "enemy" (meaning a group that opposes the belief structure of those who see this country going in the wrong direction for the past two National Elections).
