The phone became evidenced the investigation did I see no way Deceased has any right to privacy re the phone.

I can see a Search Warrant being needed.....but that would be required in that the deceased ca not grant permission or refuse.

Had he lived....then he would retain some right to privacy that would certainly require the search warrant.

He could then challenge the search in Court.

The rally in Virginia yesterday was covered by BBC news over here, with interviews and people putting forth their arguments pro and con gun control. At the end of the piece, they reported that in the first 19 days of this year, there has been 14 mass shootings and a number which was either 2,403 or 4,302 (bloody memory!) deaths by gun over the same period. As well as shocking me, those stats put me in mind of those who, about a year or so back, were trumpeting the "terrible" statistics that showed there was something like a fatal stabbing per 2 days in London, over a whole year and made me go "Hmmm".

Three takeaways from yesterday......with all those guns there.....not one single incident...no shootings...no injuries...no deaths.

The Antifa Thugs who are always counted on to commit violent acts were noticeably absent yesterday.

The protest site was cleaner when the Gun Crowd departed than when they arrived....they picked up their own trash as well as litter that was already there.

The Point.....law abiding citizens with guns are not the problem.....it is not the Gun that is the problem.

It is the evil human behind the gun that is the problem.....and those are who we need to be going after.....not those the Virginia Democrats are going after with their latest bunch of "commonsense" laws.

Trump weighs travel ban expansion in coming days

U.S. President Donald Trump is considering expanding his much-maligned travel ban with an announcement expected as early as Monday, the three-year anniversary of the original order, which targeted several Muslim-majority nations.

The list of countries is not yet final and could be changed, but nations under consideration for new restrictions include Belarus, Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania, according to two people familiar with the matter A draft being considered by the Trump administration would place immigration restrictions on the additional seven countries, but not completely ban people from those nations from entering the United States.

Trump confirmed Tuesday in an interview with the Wall Street Journal from Davos that he is trying to add additional nations to the travel ban, but declined to list the countries. Trump signed the original travel ban on January 27, 2017, just a week into his tenure. It initially denied visas to citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries, though it was later modified and upheld by the Supreme Court.

The White House, Homeland Security Department and State Department didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Trump also changed the Immigration Policy that. has drastically cut down on the influx of Illegal Aliens in the Country particularly on our Southern Border.

How's those Illegal Immigrants helping ya'll out over there?

As much as it offends some....reality is Terrorists these days seem to be from predominantly Muslim Nations.

You reckon there is some value to limiting the numbers of "visitors" from those countries re preventing terror attacks?

After all...that is exactly the same approach that Anti-gun advocates use.....when a Killer uses a gun....the Anti-Gun crowd immediately renew their drive to ban all guns and not focusing upon the Killer.

So if it works for guns.....why not terrorists?

If you keep pointing out the bleedin' obvious, Sasless, you'll have to consider running for office or finding employment in the DJT government!

“……reality is Terrorists these days seem to be from predominantly Muslim Nations.”

No, thats not a reality at all.

The US and its allies are the greatest terrorists on the planet and have held that distinction for years, nay decades.

The activities of the US in Nicaragua for example were the very definition of terrorism and the US was indeed charged with such crimes by the International Court of Justice.

The US has been directly and indirectly responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths in South and Central America in terrorist activities either directly through covert operations or indirectly by funding, arming and training terrorist forces including some of the worlds most bloodthirsty killers in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

The bombing of Laos and Cambodia could also be considered examples of terrorism. Remind me how many people died there?

What about drone strikes, a clear form of terrorism. A detailed study conducted by the Columbia Law Review found that almost 700 people are being killed by drone strikes in Pakistan each year of which around one third are civilians.

Is it any wonder that Pew Research found that three quarters of civilians in Pakistan view the US as their main threat.

And considering the number of drone bases the US is building in South America, Africa and Asia, one can assume the terrorism is going to be broadened.

A Larger Problem For The USA

The longer range and more serious problem for the USA isn't guns but basic economics.

In the USA, the old manufacturing base would be replaced by new manufacturing products if it were not for Trump and government interference. Instead, the new products are being discouraged by the Trump administration. One example is solar power another is wind power. Instead, coal power is being promoted, a dead horse if ever there was one. Both wind and solar powers when linked with electric vehicles like Tesla builds forms a whole new manufacturing sector. Instead, Tesla has turned to China where the manufacturing technology is welcomed and have just finished building a huge assembly facility in less than a year, totally owned by Tesla. No Chinese partners or the Chinese government are involved. The next step for Tesla has been locating an assembly facility in a European country. Tesla chose Germany. The infrastructure is already there for the assembly facility. Tesla hopes for a rapid build like in China, but it may be a slower start because the site has to be checked and cleared of WWII unexploded bombs if present.

With the US initiated tariff and trade wars with China, China in turn are buying soy beans, corn and other agricultural products from Brazil, Russia, Argentina, etc., at lower prices than what was purchased from the USA and the agricultural business the USA enjoyed isn’t coming back anytime soon. Russia was never a real agriculture export player until now. Putin is smiling broadly at Trump's agriculture gaff.

So, what’s next? What air-brain economic ideas will Trump push next, destroying the US manufacturing base and economy just to get reelected by his unknowing non-understanding minion base? John Deere and Caterpillar will become minor players as Kubota, Claas, Case New Holland and Volvo grow to fill the void, it’s already happening thanks to Trump and the economics he never learned at the Wharton School, pathetic!

Been watching bits of the trial.
Dems talking real histories of the thinking related to Impeachment and the Constitution.
Real words forming coherent and relevant sentences.
From the Reps...well I heard from Cipollone (WH lawyer) (a founding member of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast and a board member of the Catholic Information Center),
a religious guy who doesn't mind multiple bare faced lies in front of the Chief Justice of the United States and Congress
and I heard a ton of words that seem to be made of smoke.

There will be many folks in the near future who could find that their electable and professional reputations have evaporated.
How will they all vote?

You need to take off this tinted spectacles you are wearing I think.

It would appear you and I are looking at two different televised proceedings if you really believe what you posted.

Let's start with exactly one offering by the Democrats....."The Facts are not contested!", "The Proof is overwhelming!".

That is utter BS.

We are seeing the House Intelligence Committee Hearings Redux.

Thus far the Democrat House Managers are making what case they. have which is rich on opinion, innuendo, hear say, and false or mis-leading statements.

The Defense has yet to offer any Rebuttal of the Democrat's Presentation.....they do not begin until AFTER the Democrats finish.

You are confusing the arguments about Chuck Schumer's offering of Amendments for the presentation of the prosecutor's case.

You will recall all eight of the Amendments were tabled by the vote of the Senators.

After the Democrats finish their 24 hours of time to present the case.....the Republicans get their 24 hours to rebut the Democrats....then each side will be able to ask written questions as they wish....with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court reading those questions to the two sides for response.

After that....there shall be a Vote or Votes that shall determine where the Trial goes from that point

As related to the US service personnel injured by the Iranian missile attack, here is some utter BS from Twitter in Chief :
“I heard they had headaches,” Mr. Trump told a news conference in Davos, Switzerland. “I don’t consider them very serious injuries relative to other injuries I have seen," even as the Pentagon acknowledged that 34 American service members were being studied for possible traumatic brain injury caused by the attack. Guess the unstable genius, who avoided the Vietnam War because of much more serious bone spurs, was too busy tweeting on his impeachment problem and conversing with Hannity instead of listening to his daily Pentagon briefing. “Don’t just be outraged by #President Mayhem’s latest asinine comments,” the founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, wrote. “Take action to help vets facing TBIs,” meaning traumatic brain injuries.

Open, unfortunately.
If it was secret, think there would be at least a few Republican senators who would look at the evidence in accordance with their oath to be unbiased. But with the threat of their head being stuck on a pike if they vote against Trump, none of them seem to have the integrity to vote with the evidence, rather than their own self-interest...

Open, for sure. No hiding. You're an elected official. Stand up and state your view.

think there would be at least a few Republican senators who would look at the evidence in accordance with their oath to be unbiased.
But evidently it is not a requirement for Democratic senators to be "unbiased" in looking at the evidence..
