Ta for the photo and map Mr D.
At the time of their marriage they were living in Farndale Road and Hampstead Road which are both still there and surprisingly so are the houses.
According to the wedding certificate his father was a Check Weighman, which
I assume is assosciated with the coal industry, and her father was a Foreman with the Gas Co.
Now I need to find the next generation up.
Edit:
noun, plural checkweighmen. A representative elected by coal miners to check the findings of the mine owner's weighman where miners are paid by the weight of coal mined.

In the Durham coalfield, the weighman was known as the 'Keeker', a most unpopular man with the miners because it was his judgement as to how much (unremunerated) stone there was in each tub of coal sent to the surface.

Three weeks ago, the River Tyne had a flash flood (15 feet) that resulted in neighbours' cars being written off.
This weekend, a slightly greater flood (19 feet) has entered their houses (as, indeed, it did in January 2005).
In 2005 the height of the flood quickly subsided when the flood defence embankment was overtopped and subsequently gave way.
The embankment was a legacy construction from 1948 that was built using the existing river sand.
Since then the embankment has been rebuilt, stronger, and (slightly higher) using imported boulder clay.
Currently, the floods affecting neighbours' houses are lingering, and are slightly higher than they were in 2005 (no surprise there since they raised the embankment).
The prediction is that even higher levels will occur at 2 am Sunday, and it is anticipated that the rebuilt embankment will be overtopped by this 'surge'.
The nearby concrete wall (shown here mid afternoon) has already been overtopped.
I should point out that the embankment (and concrete wall) is only on the far side of the river, so there is no protection on our side.
I am high enough to be above all but catastrophic flooding (such as the collapse of Kielder Dam).

I took the bus into the nearby town @ 15:00.
Due to the flooding it dropped me somewhat short of my destination, and, afterwards, I had to walk into town (as the expected return bus wasn't going to pass the destination either).
As I crossed the river bridge the wind was so strong that I could hardly stay on the footpath, and the rain was heavy (and cold) so I got thoroughly soaked by the time I reached the bus station.
As it happened, the bus that I caught retraced my route (across the river) but there are no stops there for that service.
All my clothing was 'sopping' and a complete change was required.
It has stopped raining for three hours now, but we are promised a surge of floodwater @ 2 am.
I don't think I will wait up.

Imagine the flood protection they could have in place if they spent the ten or eleven billion a year they piss away on foreign aid? apparently we are still sending India 170 million a year when they can afford space program when they still have half their population shitting in the street because they have no plumbing or sewage infrastructure.

Good morning all.
Hope all in the north are safe and sound and dry.
We've been lucky around here as the Trent, Derwent and Soar appear to be behaving....... for now anyway.
If only Mr D. Last year it was £279 million.
Thanks for the music hall clip. It brightened up my bran flakes.
Wet and windy by the way.

Lady G is making cranberry and orange sauce.
Never eaten such before.
Micro fridge to be moved, allowed to stand before compressor start.
It will maintain a geostationary position; of 37 inches off the ground.

Well done Capt Redders.
Good morning all.
+12C, mostly cloudy and a bit less wind.
Forecast for the day isn't too bad either.
Lots of fishing boats spotted heading out from Mr D's harbour this
morning around about 0600.
