Icecream van has just been past
Probably doing his Saturday drugs run.

Beautiful day here with not a cloud in the sky but perishingly cold
in contrast to last week's balmy warmth.
There's is a slight dusting of snow grains on the garden.
We shall have to see what it is like going up through the Pennines to see the aged mater.

SSK you do get used to it and it does help.
IIRC it took several months to get mine with all the tests being done. If the mask is the problem, you can get a cannula ( https://www.tri-anim.com/kit-ac-flow...065-814360-100 ) which, though expensive, is much less intrusive.

Probably doing his Saturday drugs run.
It's the pizza delivery bloke that does it here.

If you think it's cold here, have a look (down to -24c a few hours ago).

Thanks to rotornut on another thread - this is scary, creepy - and hilarious (and the music is quite classy)

And goodbye to all my friends, I have just committed hara-kiri on another thread.

FWIW, SSK, I had the identical reaction while reading the post about the guts and gore of the concert shootings. It seemed too trite and, as you hinted, way too late in the game for this to be the first airing of the experience.

I forget whether you are already aware of the doppelganger of this place, but if not, you would be welcome there.

Nigel - There is an Italian resaurant at #34, Arab Street, which, just a few weeks ago, was selling draught beer at about half the usual price of $11-$12, it is called 'Oliva Italian Restaurant', www.olivaitalian.com and even if you are not keen on the food you will enjoy sitting al fresco at $6.50 a glass!

Thankfully not -24C here but cold enough for my liking.

The trip up through Derbyshire to Stalybridge was quite magical yesterday.
The snow lying on Kinder and Bleaklow contrasted beautifully with the vibrant, clear, blue sky. Almost a spiritual experience.

Slept like a log until 4am.

For the umpteenth time this month I have heard somebody pronouncing the word 'pronunciation' as 'pronounciation"!

GRRRRRRRRRRR!

You'd think if you were going to talk about pronunciation you would learn how to pronounce the word. Radio 4's Eddie Mair is a repeat offender, and what's more he is a pompous git!

I feel better now

We all used to pronounce words in a very strange manner here, that mode of pronunciation changed in very sudden manner a few hundred years back the reason for which no one can offer a sensible explanation.
The excellant and fascinating documentary series on the history of our language is very worth watching for those with a love for words.
Re watched half of the series last night and shall watch the rest tonight

Learned a interesting snippet, Henry Bolibroke (Henry IV)announced to the assembled nobility that he was taking the throne from that big girls blouse Richard II in English, unusual at that time because most of the nobilty spoke Norman French among themselves, after that the use of the French language in England was doomed.
