Late on parade today due to an excess of idleness.
A very pleasant day had in Chesterfield yesterday.
The churchyard was full of strange looking coves dressed in camo and wielding large pointy cameras. Apparently all hoping to get a glimpse of a crag martin.
Stand around in a windy churchyard or go to the pub?
No contest.

Guy doing better today after a few choice words that failing will not look good. Hopefully he will come through. Otherwise means flying home Friday back here Sunday, then fly from Amsterdam to London then SG without a break. Reluctant to do it will be so tired.

The winds that were forecast have yet to arrive. In the meantime here's a photo for Mr Draper's folder. Joseph Watson was the Head keeper at Lyme (Cheshire) and won lasting fame for driving 12 Brace of Stags from Lyme Park to Windsor Forest. he reputedly drank a gallon of beer a day, he lived to be 104 years old & is buried in Disley Churchyard. He was park keeper for 64 years.

Morning peeps, wet through the night but no sign of yon tempest lurking up North of us.
Brace of Stags? did you know that Hounds are counted in couples? so three dogs would be a couple and a half.

Morning all.
Pretty still down here and it looks like we could be in for an ok day.
I believe it got a bit breezy up Ricardian's way during the night.

Just in case anyone has forgotten -

Time to fire up the Borgy Q, and chill the beer.

Did I mention that it got to 36C today, currently 30. Expecting a warmish 38 to morrow

Sorry Bluey. Bit busy with family matters. Mrs IB at this moment on way to Liverpool, then Blackpool, as her mother has had a stroke.

I left all towing matters with Capt. Mik, but he informs me that one of his new super boats, built in Tasmania, I should add, that was allocated to this specific task, has suffered a total engine failure. You now know yer own country people have caused yer misery this year.

One hears the bin men outside. Must nip out and rescue my wheelie before the wind picks it up and throws it through the neighbour's window.

You can have all you want in a month or so - no charge, but you'll have to come and collect it.

A mini Mistral is picking up which will blow away the fug that has been hanging around for the past week. One can already see the Alpilles to the South West and the Dentelles to the North which were shrouded in mist until this morning. A temp drop of around 5deg is worth it.

Me too Mr D.
The depths of depravity that human kind can resort to fills me with despair.

Thanks, Grumps. I'll bring my big esky!

... ghastly.
And worse than ghastly, Captain Draper. When are people going to realise that fighting these evil bastards using civilised rules and ethical standards just isn't going to work? It's almost getting to the stage where the military have to get written permission to drop a bomb. It's not working, people ... wake up to yourselves before it's too late.

I think ordinary folk have been awake to what is happening for a long time. It's the bloody gutless, head-in-the-sand politicians with the assistance of the political correctness gestapo and human rights lawyers that have screwed us.

I hope that Mrs west lakes is safe from the flooding (and the tin-tent is chained-down):-

Warnings, which indicate a possible danger to life, have been issued around the town of Egremont. People have been advised to move out to stay with family and friends who live in areas with lower risk of flooding.

Morning folks.
It's windy and wet here but I'm just south enough to have missed the full
force of the tempest.
Hopefully all of you further north have escaped the worst of things.
