You are easily baffled, apparently. If you think there is no desire to reduce the number of deaths from gunshots on the part of 2nd amendment advocates you not only aren't listening but are making up positions that none of us have taken.

You have a choice, either address the issues or continue as you are until
what you fear most comes to pass.
What I fear most? Sh1t, either Bigfoot or my ex-wife will soon be visiting?

Since when did you get a vote in how I conduct my life?

It is not your place to issue proclamations and false choices.

It is your place to be ignored.

Again.

Interesting. Unless your profile info is a lie your age shows as 67 whereas brick's shows as 50. So if brick is an "old man" at 50 what does that make you, ancient? Or just an old crusty and crotchety geezer?

While public perception of America being a high-crime nation has prevailed, the reality is that FBI crime statistics in 2013 resumed a long-term decline. Of course, many will chalk this up to better policing techniques, but those who do so ignore the elephant in the room: Background checks for gun purchasers continue at a record-setting pace, meaning more weapons are in the hands of would-be victims of crime.
We like to say they're protected by Second Amendment Security.
A horrific event like a Sandy Hook or Columbine always presents a grotesque opportunity for the Left to promote an anti-Second Amendment agenda, as they seize upon such evil acts to blame the tool instead of the perpetrator. Yet, for example, banning “assault weapons” between 1994 and 2004 had little positive effect on the murder rate because, simply put, those guns are rarely used to commit murders. So by the Left's "logic," we would be better off banning knives and sharp objects, as the FBI says they kill five times more people than do rifles of any type. Such a knife ban would be highly unrealistic, though, because you can't cut your steak with a spork.
The phrase popularized by writer and researcher John Lott was simple: “More guns, less crime.” Each year new FBI statistics come out and generally prove the adage correct. It's why the Left, every time a rifle is used in a shooting, tries to conflate the standard AR-15 semiautomatic rifle with the military grade M4A1 carbine that is a fully automatic weapon and has been very difficult for the general public to obtain for decades.
(To understand the differences between the two, check out this great resource.)
Fortunately, the American people don't seem to be buying what the snake oil salesmen of the Left are selling. In fact, polling data shows Americans are more likely to believe having a gun makes a home safer. Seeking another "assault weapons" ban is approaching the political “third rail” status of Social Security -- touch it and you're dead.
It would be more fatal than 99.99% of the AR-15 rifles out there.

How 'bout NZers being called sheep-shagging Aussies? You're from somewhere down under and speak funny. BTW, a guy in NZ named Soroka builds the absolute best single shot rifle on this or any other planet. Absolutely beautiful for $18,000+ US.

The point is that if you were to melt your guns down there would be n number of less guns with the potential to fall into the hands of those chaps you fear.
Well john, the 800 pound sheep in the room asks, what of the guns that exist in the here and now that are in the hands of the thugs that I fear? Shall I rely solely on the police to guarantee my safety?

What of the folks who hunt for sustenance? Carry large volumes of cash for work? Shall I tell them john from NZ says you don't need that weapon?

I suppose i could scream STOP and if they continue to advance I could make like a British bobby and yell stop again.

John

Can't help but notice that your grand plan to make the US safe hasn't been implemented in NZ. There's over a million weapons owned by NZ citizens.

Saw recently the highest court in NZ recently binned an attempt to reclassify weapons to make them harder to obtain. Sorry about that. Clearly US influence is seeing its way down south.

But the difference is I, unlike you, do not fear the local criminal element and I am not a part of the chain through which guns find their way into evil hands.

If you buy a new gun the effect ripples back and the factory makes another to take its place on the gun shop shelf, you have brought another gun into the world.

No one can see the future for your guns.

When cornered on flawed logic and flawed assumptions John doesn't think a whole lot.

John, I've never had my weapons stolen. That's the baseline you need to work with. The rural area of San Diego I live in is well armed and quite peaceful.

From a little studying, you should be nervous of NZ's criminal element. There's some royally bad MF'ers that would love to do harm to you john.

Do you have a prescription for those rose colored glasses?

Yet you offer opinion on this future you can't see.

Why doesn't your country adopt this idea?

Another appeal to the gallery, how sweet!

But you do not know they will not be stolen.

There are a lot of things I could be nervous about if I was prone to that sort of thing but local criminals are not very high on the list.

Yet you offer opinion on this future you can't see.
Nothing is forever, you will not be here forever and who gets your guns then, assuming they are not already stolen from you?

Obvious troll is obvious.

John, I am not sure why making stuff up amuses you, but it's transparent.
