I wonder what effect that embassy has on property values in the immediate area?
What is to stop the next ambassador bringing a dirty little package in his diplomatic baggage, as a present from an angry dictator?

More likely, what about the regular transport of innocuous-looking bags of white powder in NK diplomats bags?

In NK Meth is offered as casually as a cup of tea

If you cant find the book you could instead spend a few minutes reading this:-
What Does It Mean When A North Korean Diplomat Defects? : Parallels : NPR

Could you pls point me to a public statement made by the N.K. govmt regarding those defections?
Any statements or comments made by the Fat Kim or his cronies regarding those nasty books written by the American propaganda?
Why they don't clear the air once and for all, invite a foreign tv inside their magic kingdom to show that these books are all but lies? They could even get paid for that.
Surely they have nothing to hide, right?

If you are concerned about the veracity of American and South Korean propaganda you should ask them to prove what they are reporting.

Actually, you're the one who's concerned about the veracity of American and South Korean propaganda.
Not me.
You're the one who called "propaganda" that book about a girl who escaped from NK with her family. Would you please contact her and ask her to prove what she wrote? Most likely she will reply.
The Official Webpage of Hyeonseo Lee | Hyeonseo Lee
Feel free to contact other NK defectors as well, I'd love to read their stories too.

Strangely enough, you keep deflecting and running away from the NK propaganda and its crimes. Looks like you really want to discuss only what suits you and nothing else.
I'm still waiting to know how many Americans left the US fearing for their lives.

Of course I am concerned about the veracity of what is probably propaganda but that does not mean you should be worried about it, in fact you can believe every bit of nonsense you allow yourself to be fed.

I have yet to hear just why you think North Korea has any good or great things going for it or for its people.
Please tell us what they are doing right, why it's a great place to live, why it is so much better than South Korea or almost anywhere else in terms of prosperity and quality of life.

Well then, since you are so concerned about this evil propaganda machine, why don't you go ahead and contact that lady telling her that she just wrote a bunch of crapola and baloney?
I'd love to read her reply.

Are you a politician, by any chance? 'Cause you're awfully good at avoiding subjects you don't wanna talk about.

Please do not ascribe to me a position I do not hold then expect me to defend it.

You're welcome.
After all, you keep proving my point over and over again: evading the subject.

You could certainly run for elections.

Now, it appears you want to stay on the subject. The title on the discussion says NK so let's talk about NK*.
Did you contact that lady asking her to prove anything she wrote about NK?

*NK as in North Korea, not Northern Kansas.

The adult version of "I didn't do it, and you can't prove that I did!" is John Hill's mantra:

"Please do not ascribe to me a position I do not hold then expect me to defend it."

He goes all pro-North Korea for pages and pages, but then does a perfect "Who, me?" when he's asked for specifics about why, or at least how, he can take that stance.

Gee, John, I seem to remember all this kicking off with you refusing to accept the historical truth that North Korea started the Korean War. You then came up with this vision of Kim Jong-un as a potential reformer, and North Korea as a dependable trade partner, and a pretty nice place if you like swapping jokes with your minder in the Mongolian Bar. Oh, and the bowling alley! And the ski resort ... let's not forget the ski resort.

Leaving out the concentration camps, and the starvation, and the total lack of individual freedom, and a few other details too many to count ... your doing that gave me, at least, the idea that you view that unhappy land through rose-tinted spectacles, but there I go again, ascribing to you a position you may hold as stoutly as you deny holding it.

I vote JH as the best PPRuNe fly fisherman over the last (at least) 10 years.

The amount of suckers he's caught hook, line and sinker over the length of this thread needs acknowledgement.

The number of idiots who fall for it reminds me of a Trump convention.

Well done John
