The meeting is to prop both Kim and Trumpet up as saviours in front of their people.. If public opinion pulls the props out from underneath these saviours all hell will break loose
Has anyone invited representatives of the British, French and 'European' governments to widen the interest .... seeing as the second sentence quoted seems to have already happened closer to home.

Don't think so.

Do they have any dog in this battle or are they just looking to pick up the spoils?

So exciting. He's on his train...now in China........I am absolutely bursting with no expectations.....

North Korea's state media said on Sunday that the people of the United States would "never be cleared of security threats" if this week's nuclear talks in Vietnam end without results.
The North's official KCNA news agency criticized U.S. Democrats and others for "plotting to disrupt" a second summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday and Thursday in Hanoi.
KCNA accused the Trump administration of "lending an ear" to opponents of dialogue, even after the United States launched diplomatic efforts with North Korea.
"If the upcoming DPRK-U.S. negotiations end without results as wished by the opponent forces, the U.S. people will never be cleared of the security threats that threw them into panic and then responsibility will be placed on those due," KCNA said

They really have to keep the kids out of the NK newsroom.

I wonder how many concessions Mr. Trump is going to make to his bro? The Norks are old hands at the art of the deal whilst Mr. Trump is not.

I imagine that there are a lot ofleaders in SE Asia and advisors in the U.S. who are holding their breaths these couple days.

I have to say that Vietnam, Hanoi in particular, seems to be doing well. A great country with elegant and hard working people. Shame it was so war-torn for so many years. I will leave those reasons to others. My point is it looks to have stepped smartly ahead. Good news for them.

.
Seriously? The Donald has no shortage of faults, but I'd rate him significantly better at 'the art of the deal' than Obama (or any of our recent presidents) - as demonstrated by his numerous business deals over the years.
Even if he agrees to something he shouldn't, he'd have a hard time doing worse than what Clinton agreed to 20 years ago...

I think we ought to solomly acknowledge Donald Trumps belated arrival in Vietnam!
50+ years after he started dodging the draft.
AND he has the brass neck to salute the American military.
Embarased of Stockport.

Brought to a close before lunch (table already set) with no formal bye byes. A fizzle if there was ever one.
Are the NKs, with Chinese help, recognizing they might be dealing with a lame duck and a murky immediate future?

The American media (especially CNN) have been predicting that Trump would be out in weeks since shortly after he was inaugurated, and although the alleged 'why' keeps changing, he doesn't appear to be any closer being out than he was 18 months ago. The latest buzz is based on the testimony of an admitted and convicted perjurer . Even some of the Democrats are admitting his credibility is suspect.

Trump gave a pretty good message to Norky-Un -- "I'm outta here if we can't get an agreement".

But the real intended recipient of that message is China. Trade negotiations are ongoing.

Of course, to CNN et al, if Whirled Peas does not immediately follow Trump meeting with some dictator, it is completely due to his incompetence. Or Stormy Daniels.

Naturally there will not be any rational post mortem of this abrupt ending of the summit. For many of Trump's base it will all be the fault of Hillary Clinton, Benghazi, Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, the "libs" or whomever.

In one way (brace yourselves readers!), I have to give Trump credit on this. He sat down one on one with the young dictator and took a measure of any deal. It wasn't there and he walked. I know it doesn't make sense from how international negotiations are walked through, but it does bring some kind of clarity to the situation. At the very least it drops the charades and puts the focus on what the true points of contention are. It also makes most parties realize that without China in on this that it is all rather futile.

On the other hand...what else did one expect from Mr. Trump's infamous eschewing of preparation and knowledge of the details? Strong aides could have warned of this.

Now why don't we read the North Korean view on why the talks fell apart? It is totally the opposite reason to that given by Trump. It all seems a tad different when you can read the 2 differing versions, rather than just accept the words of one side. I am not saying I believe either of them just now though.

Indonesian woman accused of VX attack released

Being reported that :

An Indonesian woman held for two years on suspicion of killing the North Korean leaderís half brother was freed from custody on Monday after prosecutors unexpectedly dropped the murder charge against her.The High Court judge discharged Siti Aisyah without an acquittal after prosecutors said they wanted to withdraw the charge. They did not give a reason. She had been charged over the daring assassination of Kim Jong-unís half brother Kim Jong-nam, who died in 2017 after VX nerve agent was smeared on his face.Aisyah cried and hugged her co-defendant, Doan Thi Huong from Vietnam, before leaving the courtroom. She told reporters she had only learned Monday morning that she would be freed. ďI am surprised and very happy. I didnít expect it.Ē

It sounds as if North Korea is again entertaing us with the colorful language of approbation. They have, once again, rolled out trusted phrases such "gangsterism" in reference to the U.S.

Although for those who read the leaves they have not directly insulted Trump. With Bolton belching invective, it seems to be a battle of the staff members.

Are we all the way back to the beginning here? We all suspected that reality would eventually reassert its heavy hand despite Trump's pronouncements, but who can say what the next step is? The Norks seem to be processing and manufacturing warheads full apace, yet they have not tested any missiles in some time. They certainly are not going to denuke anytime soon...and the Peace Prize is most likely not going to happen.

More theatre or have things been moved forward a millimetre or so?

President Trump likes Chairman Kim says Sarah Sanders

Yes, I guess he does and shows it by dropping sanctions.

Perhaps though the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/22/w...sanctions.html

All announced on Twitter of course--heaven forbid that the POTUS would actually coordinate with the rest of his administration.
