Re the Police

In the UK, don't the Police have a charter where they have to investigate crime or charge people if caught doing serious crime ?

I know in most police forces (well in Aus), cops have a certain amount of discretion when say booking you for speeding but not for much else.

Also, don't the Police forces in the UK have an over reaching group that keeps a check on them ?

Surely at least the Police are going to be held accountable for their lack of action ?

Nice to see this at the bottom

The cop out has come already.

From the IPCC web site

"29 Aug IPCC @IPCCNews

Should we receive any referrals regarding Rotherham #CSE from @syptweet we will assess the info to determine if an investigation is required
"

IPCC statement - independent report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham

Aug 28, 2014
IPCC Deputy Chair Rachel Cerfontyne said: “The independent report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham highlighted appalling sexual abuse of young, vulnerable children and the apparent failure of a range of public services to tackle it. The scale of alleged abuse and the suggestion that evidence about it was suppressed is shocking.
“Of particular interest to the IPCC, the report raised serious and troubling concerns about the action or inaction of South Yorkshire Police when dealing with the reported abuse over a number of years. As a result we are writing to the Chief Constable to advise him of the IPCC’s expectation that any evidence of failures or misconduct by South Yorkshire Police officers should be referred to us. It would then be for the IPCC to assess the information to determine whether an investigation is required and, if so, how it should be investigated.”

How can an investigation NOT be required ????????

And leaving it up to the CC to advise the IPCC ?

How about go in there and look for it.

Whilst generalizations will always present a less than complete picture
Don't disagree with the less than complete picture but NO WAY can 1400 girls be anything less than 95% of a picture.

I wonder if white man rape gets the same treatment in Rotherham ?

Would be interesting to see the statistics.

It would also be interesting to see the sex crimes register of offenders and who is on it in that area.

When I was trying to find out the circumstances of my friend I soon found out that the PC brigade have totally emasculated our freedom to find out who we are living next to.

You cannot find out details of anyone's criminal record, whether there are any arrest warrants out, what sentences may have been served etc for anyone unless you can find a relevant press report.

That is just plain wrong - but it prevents those with convictions being researched next time they are up before the courts you see!

In the US, many states (if not all) have a sexual offender register where one can search and fact the offenders picture, address and the nature of their offense.

General criminal convictions would be tougher to find without paying. The county Sheriff where I live has a "Booking Blotter" where arrests can be searched by name. Online courthouse info generally has other criminal and civil case records in searchable format.

In my county once a month a list is released from the sheriff’s office with the name, photo, offence they were arrested for and address of every one arrested in Oklahoma County in the preceding month.

Which comes in handy for home robbers.

Could this be the start of the backlash

I know it's the DM but it did put a bit of hope in my heart when I read it.

500N .... 'Cindy Butts' She definitely ticks all the P.C. boxes doesn't she ? Which, of course, leads to the sort of problems that have been happening in Sth.Yorkshire if not in many other places.

She certainly does.

I also noticed one of the other commissioners was very much into Human rights.

Now I am not a great pusher of HR but these girls BASIC HR's were removed.

Sorry to pull the sheet off the elephant in the room but we have ranted against the police and authorities in general and the Pakistani gangs. What about the customers of the gangs?
Reports say 1400 girls were involved, that's a lot of activity. How do we know that many of the customers were not the local white males? How do we know that the facilitators were not being "paid" in kind?

J. Edgar Hoover stayed in charge of the FBI for an unusually long period of time. It was rumoured that this was because he had "dirt" on so many of the people in power.

Now, I can only think that people who should have resigned are hanging on for one of several reasons.
1. Pure lack of any other option.
2. Belief that they can bluff their way out.
3. Because they know that in the end someone has their back because they have names and facts that can bury some (self) important people.
4. Because they know that if they turn States evidence they are going to be wearing stylish concrete boots.

It would be a mistake to think that all of the customers were friends of the Pakistani gangs. The affair in Ireland shows that even MPs are not above very sordid sexual activities.

Boing ... you could well be correct in everything you say and it is also worth noting that not all girls survived their "grooming".

BOING, I think "all of the above" would be a pretty accurate response to your multiple choice suggestions.

Did I read somewhere there are over 100 children born of this sorry mess? In just one small city? I think we've so far seen just the very tip of the iceberg, and I repeat what I said earlier in this thread. This is so big that I think the Establishment simply cannot afford to allow it to proceed to where it should. Closed ranks and hope they can bluff their way out of it will be the order of the day.

I see the Deputy Commis has resigned and called for her boss, Shaun Wright to resign as well.

Some other interesting comments in the DM article that I happened to come across. Will have to refind it as it came up in a search.

Andu ... 'tip of the iceberg' etc.
Grooming was being reported in Wellington and Telford in Shropshire, just to name two more towns in England, and the two local M.P.s were informed, this was back in 2011. No action taken.

It's also worth noting that Rotherham was where the council removed 2 children from their foster parents because the foster parents supported UKIP.
