Yup, Nara. Todaiji is the currently-wrapped building. The smoke is from burning stubble in the rice paddies. The photo was taken from Mount Wakakusa after a blunder through the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, where hunting has been banned since the 840's. All that for a not very attractive city view.

All yours.

Blundering quite describes the route to the solution of this challenge. Thanks Bushfiva "Burning stubble in the rice paddies..."

evansb, looking forward to something just as diabolical.

Great job evansb, I was just starting to look at this area. When I flew to Japan, I stayed in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. At street level they all looked Ed Zachary the same

If you read up on its history, I think you'll find that some of the inmates turned the island around during an escape attempt.

No, not there either. I guess it looks likes lots of British High Streets. I used to go to the simulator there. Nice place in the summer.

Crikey, I've never heard anyone say that Crawley is nice in the summer; nor in the winter for that matter! Especially so if you're there for a simulator check!
