Laos perhaps, on the line being built to Singapore?

" It will require 154 bridges and 76 tunnels, as well as 31 train stations, just to get the line the 260 miles from Boten on the Laos-China border to Laos’ capital Vientiane."

Sorry, not Laos, Singapore, or Japan. Yes, the tunnels are "newish", constructed circa 2006.

Somewhere in Japan, from the palace-like structure with the green roof near the base of the hill in the first photo.

I'm away for a few hours, so if you think you've got the city, do carry on.

No, not Fukushima. Deer oh dear, time for lots of clues.

The photos were taken on Sunday. We're looking at an ancient capital. Broadreach spotted a national museum. but not two items, one immediately above it and one above right, but unfortunately gift-wrapped at the moment (so I guess, actually not spottable).

When this was an ancient capital, it was sited on the big patch of grass in the top picture.
