Sorry can't bear to watch him on TV.

Just wondering if he got a salute?

Allegedly Gillard was chuffed when she got a salute .... in a war zone....

Considering most of the troops in Tarin Kowt are unarmed,
I doubt it would matter.

I just did a google, at least Rudd and Therese had the brains
to remove those daggy helmets BEFORE disembarking whereas
Gillard walked across the tarmac with it still on. Not a good look.

Maybe they just didn't want "helmet hair". Wouldn't have made much difference with Gillard.

I note that now the ALP is no more and it is the KRP. A large billboard on the M1 between Brissie and the Gold Coast promotes not the ALP candidate for the seat of Forde, but "Kevin Rudd's candidate", complete with smiling portrait of said candidate alongside a rather sour looking President-For-Life. No mention of any potentially on the nose political party. The cult of personality!! Unfortunately for them the overwhelming mental image I get when I see it is of "Bert 'n' Ernie"!

How do you come to that conclusion, HID?

Or are you excluding me from "the bunch".

Yep, saw it and was a bit surprised. There are a couple of others in marginal Brisbane seats. I'll have to assess it for Bert and Ernieness next time I drive past; I was too busy looking (squinting ) at the very small Labor logo. I think the ALP is firmly in Whatever It Takes mode at the moment; there must be some seriously gritted teeth and clenched fists among the faceless men. However, whether they like it or not (no prizes for guessing which ) this week Kevvy's a superstar, so they'll cop it. IME one of the key differences between the Liberal and Labor parties is that 99% of backroom Labor people would rather a Labor candidate win, even if they destest them personally. The backroom Libs (Qld Libs in particular) aren't always like that.
Or are you excluding me from "the bunch".
Not me, I hope. I'm definitely a misogynist, but it's balanced by an equal level of misandry. In other words I hate everyone, particularly within the political sphere at the moment.

Presumably the secret squirrel DOD people who do security assessments decided it was okay for Therese to go. TBQH, I've heard/read more about it on here than anywhere else.

That's probably because we are first with a balanced coverage of the news, Worrals.

Ever noticed that comments on here often get paraphrased or quoted in various opinion pieces a day or two after?.

I've certainly noticed that quite frequently with Paul Murray's opinion pieces on Sky, but I just thought he was a terribly wise fellow 'cos the opinions he expressed so often agreed with mine!!!

Today, Kevni plans to piggyback onto another Coalition policy - fully indexing Defence pensions. Anyone who falls for this, after Labor's continued stonewalling on the topic for years, would have to be a rusted-on Laborite desperately looking for an excuse to vote Labor again after the failed Gillard 'experiment'. If the polls are to be believed, there are such people out there - and lots of them.

Kev is apparently searching for an eye-catching one liner to replace 'Kevin07'.

'Kevin TURDeen' would be my suggestion, but I don't expect to see it on any t-shirts paid for by the Labor Pardy.

The Libs, on the other hand, might take my suggestion up....

Maybe we're all covert Murdoch/Fairfax employees..., Nah, we usually get the facts straight (or at least straighter than they do) and with fewer spelling mistakes.

410 good idea, but the Libs don't seem to go for amusing T shirt slogans. I guess they're too sophisticated for that sort of thing . Pity really; up here one relatively respectable union's Undo Can Do shirts are in hot demand, as is another (far less well-behaved ) union's Can Do Is A Can't range of apparel. It would be fun to see some similar options from the blue team. Perhaps some party themed speedos with 'Boat Towing Crew' on the back?

One would hope that in the next 6-8 weeks we elect a responsible honest party to govern the country. A party that has a policy rather than an announcement, a party that puts its own citizens first rather than bowing to narrow vested interests, a party that will build a fence at the top of the cliff instead of putting an ambulance at the bottom.

There's bugger all hope for us if this election depends on whoever can come up with the catchiest slogan and style is more important than substance.

There's a first time for everything.
