Good one VitaminGee

Many happy and healthy returns of the day dear Westie.

Sunny here; local lore has it that means Westie has been a good boy the past year.

A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY Westie!!!
Have a lovely day.

We've got MORE Cloggies arriving today.
The eldest BIL and his wife.
They're coming on the boat and driving down from Harwich.
Saves me having to pick them up from the airport.
T'will be nice to see them.

Been a busy few weeks one way and another.

We may try to resist but cannot insulate ourselves from the effects of time, for nothing can impede its passage. The best we can do is to conduct ourselves with dignity as the years advance.

Many Happy Returns of the Day Westie.

It's apparently National No Smoking day.

If people are going to post pics of winsome ships and powerful steam engines, I shall post pics of the local transport around this part of the World:

This 'vehicle' carries up to around ten people and underneath there is an old Kawasaki 125, I think.

Many happy returns Mr West Lakes.

I was somewhat gobsmacked last night to find out that the old chap (as I regarded him) who comes down to the rifle club each week and parks himself on a chair to plink away at targets with his somewhat elderly rifle is, in fact, six years younger than I am

Gratifyingly, two other club members to whom I mentioned this fact were equally surprised (maybe, just maybe, they were being polite, but I think not).

I must take a more careful look at myself in the mirror each morning.........

...well, my face anyway

I tend to stay away from full length mirrors

GG

Henry Amarillo? Shouldn't he be in Texas?

You're buying them in the wrong place, Drapes. Mine are all in perfect working order. Unfortunately.

Many Happery Turns, Westie.

Keep up your potential (and your resistance).

Subdue your reluctance and your impedance.

Suns come out here beggora already!.
Buggah!one could not get much more aground than this.

The well known photograph of the stranded SS Princess May, taken by William Howard Case in August 1910.
Princess May (1717 grt/1022 nrt) was built in 1888 by Hawthorn, Leslie and Co., Newcastle as the Mei Shih for the China station where she served until 1901. She was then sold to the Canadian Pacific Railroad Co. to operate along the Alaskan coastline.
On Aug. 5th, 1910 she was steaming southbound from Skagway but stranded in dense fog on a rocky outcrop of Sentinel Is within full sight of the lighthouse.
Some 80 passengers and the 68-member crew were safely evacuated but when the tide went out, Princess May remained high and dry. In September she was salvaged by the tugs Santa Cruz and William Joliffe from Seattle. Salvage and repair costs amounted $115.000.
The steamer remained in service until 1919 when it was sold to the Princess May SS Co. to operate in the Caribbean. In 1935 Princess May was dismantled and scuttled deliberately off Jamaica.
During her career she bore also the following names: Cass, Arthur, again Cass, Ningchow and Hating.
