My observation has always been that MIA Center works better with Havana Center than MIA does with JAX Center.
If that ain't the truth.

We Scots don't do sun-worshiping

Must be cockney accents I'm hearing on the beaches here then...all wearing banana hammocks.

I was just thinking, about the ISIS aircraft. Maybe Cubans can teach them to fly. They should have some old Soviet style A/C at the ready...

I see Cuba sending 400 medical personnel to Africa to help in the Ebola fight. Good on them, but I wonder how many will return.

Checking

Wondering how the Old, Bold, Cold Warriors are feeling about the gradual opening up of Cuba of which I have been trying to enlighten them on for a long time.

A new spirit of enlightenment, or collaboration with them filthy commies ?

Maybe something in between ?

First person to mention "lettuce" loses

Just a thought.

Is Obama cosying up to Cuba so that if Putin had designs on rekindling and strengthening Russia's foothold in Cuba, he'd find it a tad more complicated?

Surely not?

It's all part of the Obama World-wide Apology and Surrender Tour.

I have been in favor of opening relations with Cuba for a long time, but I'm waiting to see just what Obama is going to promise and what Congress will give.

Hopefully they can reach a compromise, but the Castro family needs to step down from power and retire to the south of France*. God knows they’ve got enough money.

I’m just curious as to how this will effect Hillary in 2016? Perhaps not all that much as the Cuban voting bloc in Florida tend to be conservative and vote Republican.

Bottom line to me is, Obama does not have to give a hell of a lot, just work with Congress to allow un-restricted visitation to Cuban by US citizens and have the Castro brothers allow un-restricted satellite, radio and even cable access to Cuban citizens.

Then stand back and watch what happens when Cubans have a taste of real freedom.

* Or just buy an island in the Caribbean, again, they have enough ill-gotten gains to afford doing what they want.

Most Americans don't give a flying fig about Cuba, as its relevance is miniscule.

We're not, however, pleased with the apology tour. I think, though, that Obama is simply trying to outmaneuver the rest of South/Central America and Europe for trade influence once the Castros have passed along. Lord knows they are well past their sell-by dates.

I wonder if this will cause Castro's mole to quit the race? Poor Ted, all those years wasted.

I think you might find that the reason no one from the RWS is commenting is due to the fact that the vast majority of them have either been banned outright from PPRuNe or been blocked from posting to JB.

I think it is more likely that nobody in the US, save for some old codgers in Miami, cares two hoots about Cuba. As the last of the Social Utopia holdouts, it's more of a Euro-obsession now.

What's the realistic outcome for the average Cuban? Little to nothing is the answer. The beloved little island you help prop up with your tourist dollars isn't going to have a change of heart overnight and provide the freedoms you and I enjoy.

Look at other oppressive regimes that have thrown out the welcome mat, they're still repressing thier citizens.
