Fire drama in Hesse: In Reichelsheim (Wetterau) is a Goodyear-Zeppelin flight of a round fire to fall while! Drei Passagiere konnten sich retten. Three passengers survived. The pilot died in the disaster in the flames died.

The accident occurred around 20.30 clock on the approach to the airport Reichelsheim.

After BILD.de information engine noise was a loud sound. Es roch nach Benzin. It smelled of gasoline. The two 80-hp engines of the four-seat Zeppelin had caught fire. About 2 feet above the ground called the passengers to the Australian pilot, "We have a crash!"

Then they jumped off, the pilot remained on board - and the airship shot (probably by the weight loss) about 50 feet in the air! Dann ging es in Flammen auf. Then it went up in flames.

From the bottom of the cries of the pilots were still heard. In a meadow Zeppelin went down short of it. Am Unglücksort liegen die verkohlten Überreste. At the accident site are the charred remains.

When the survivors it is a TV crew and a press photographer.

The tire manufacturer Goodyear blimp, with its airships, just on a "safety tour" of several states on the road. „Blimps“ sind Luftschiffe ohne inneres Gerüst. "Blimps" are airships without internal structure. Größter Hersteller ist die Firma Goodyear. Is the largest manufacturer Goodyear.

Vom 10. Of 10 bis 13. to 13 Juni macht Goodyear anlässlich des Hessentages auch Station auf dem Flugplatz Reichelsheim. June Goodyear makes the occasion of Hessentag also stopped at the airport Reichelsheim.

tRANSLATION IS ODDLY WRONG: TRANSLATES mETERS TO fEET AS 1:1. If a more realistic ratio, 3:1 and a bit, is used, the drops get considerably scarier.

Tragic event! Pilot suddenly found himself way far up S. Creek with no chance for a paddle.

Australian pilot
Would appreciate a heads up on the pilots name should anyone come by the info. PM if necessary. Squadron instuctor from military days went into this game in a big way but not heard of his movements for some 20+ years.

Google translates language literally, word for word, and at least it capitalises correctly.

I have asked PPT to put this thread back to R & N and merged with the second thread that has now started there.

The tragic death of a pilot, especially in these circumstances, is not a subject for Jet Blast, I feel.

OFSO says:

Sorry bout that Cap'n. One was briefly but conspicuously incapacitated, as it were.

Guess the idea of reporting distances in error by a factor of 3 doesna get yer goat -- possibly that'd be why proximity warning systems have gotten so popular in the EU lately?

One woulda thunk it were a capital offense to substitute 50 feet for a hundred fifty in such a report -- the one iffy for a jump and the other not so good at all.

Unhappy the result, any way one counts it. "Sad" says it truly.
