Earl:
Peace talks don't work , these ones don't want peace.
Not quite. To Hamas and likeminded folk, peace is a necessary but temporary condition, during which rearming and other preparations for the next assault are accomplished.

May we please keep this thread aligned with US politics, and its nonsense, and leave the nonsense about the latest killing in the Gaza/Israel sector in the thread devoted to that?

I refer, of course, to this thread.

Thanks in advance, gentlemen and ladies ...

Constant War is their creed, it is in their ops manual for godssake.

"peace talks" are current PC for "wait til next time".

From barit1

"Not quite. To Hamas and likeminded folk, peace is a necessary but temporary condition, during which rearming and other preparations for the next assault are accomplished."

Useful idiots like Carter and Obama, like a Democrat Senate, will be the death of Israel.

Some one needs to foreclose on "next time". Paying tribute to a people whose goal is murder and theocide cannot be tolerated. No one heals who wishes to remain sick...

"Useless" idiots like Bush stalled on searching for a ceasefire for a considerable period of time to try to allow Israel to destroy Hezbollah which was never going to happen.

The result was a trashing of Lebanon where Hezbollah killed more Israeli soldiers than civilians and Israel killed more civilians than Hezbollah fighters.

I think you have missed the point. Ceasefire is the problem. To that extent, Bush was not useless.

Until the stated goal of israel's enemies is other than the elimination of Israel, War is to be embraced, not denied...

It is the legion of idiots who "pretend" Islam is not insane who will make possible
A hideous and global conflagration.

What manner of moron bestows a "peace prize" on Arafat?

I don't think I have missed the point at all Lyman.

Ceasefire is not the problem, a retrenchment by Israel post 1967 is. Israel has constantly violated UN resolutions and has stuck 2 fingers upto the international community, aided and abetted by US vetos. Bush allowed Israel time to try to finish Hezbollah off. He and Israel failed. Bush sent 25,000 US servicemen to their deaths or maiming in Iraq on false premises.

Idiot ? Yes he was. And so was his poodle Tony Blair for what it's worth.

At least we are approaching a return to US politics, and the standard refrain of "GW Bush is an idiot."

This is an encouraging development of the coversation.

You're pretty quick to find fault. I've always found it easier to sit and throw barbs. Shame you can't offer up a REALISTIC, comprehensive outline and offer it up for comparison. Perhaps you hold the key to solving an issue that has plagued mankind for a good bit of time.

Cheers

My point is..... The UN? Tony Blair? George Bush? Who gives a rat sphincter for these idiots? You do? Tell me you are not serious.

UN resolutions? Sorry, bro, when rockets start to fly, I would pull out all the stops, with great prejudice. You would not?

Whether you like or despise the rhetoric, the puppets, or the dance card you were given, when rockets come at you, the dogs are out....

The hand wringing, the poncy pundits on Sunday Morning? You cannot be serious.

The conversation should be limited to "Stop, Now". The next rocket invites an unlimited response, until one is certain there are no rocket guys left,

Robert's rules and Emily Post can pound sand.

The sick cretins love death, let them have it......Then let us begin a comminity of reason, absent the rabid mammals who wish to kill only, and be killed....

Imo

Now this may shock some here.

President Obama is in Burma/Myanmar.

I think that is a good thing. Not quite as earth shattering as Nixon going to China, but pretty dang close. As the leaders of Burma/Myanmar has made some very encouraging moves to open the county back up and allowing some democracy, I think having President Obama make an official state visit will help encourage the military leaders to allow even more freedom to the citizens of that country.

So see, I do believe that President Obama has done some good things as President, just can't remember what the other two things were.

But the rich rats that make over 250,000 usd a year are free to be eaten and will be given for free., after the government takes every dime they have, useless then.

Can any of you "Vets" tell me where the memorial to those lost on the USS Liberty is? I am sure it is an impressive Israeli funded site.

Well Con-Pilot,

Nice to see an admission that Obama hasn't been all bad. I'd like to see your President show some real world leadership and sort out the Israeli-Palestinian mess. He has been overtly disengaged from it. The US Jewish lobby appears to be particularly important over the pond. Not so important now. 4 years time and Obama will not be re-elected. He has that period to put noses out of joint if need be and leave a lasting legacy that will put him in the pages of history as someone who solved an intractable mess.

Regards

Orion:
Some of us thought that way about him in 2008. Didn't live up to the expectations.
I don't see any sign of change for the next 4. Now he'll be involved with "legacy building". And since the Middle East has been singularly unsuccessful for all prior presidential "legacies", he'll avoid it like the plague.

I think he will stick to domestic stuff -- health care, and budget. Unclear how successful that will all be.

Of course, outside events could easily derail the whole legacy thing.

I was actually impressed with then Senator Obama when he gave the Keynote Address at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

I just didn't pick up on it then that the Teleprompter was the one who was putting on the show that night.

I'd like to see your President show some real world leadership and sort out the Israeli-Palestinian mess.

Now just how do you propose he do that?

If I read my Bible right....the fighting in that part of the World has been going for some time in one form or another...and certainly shows no hope of ending ever.

As has been said.....if the Arabs (think Muslims) lay down their Arms....we shall see Peace.

If Israel lay down their Arms....we shall see no more Israel.

So...it would appear to me....the key is to get the Arab World (think Muslims) to accept the State of Israel, that the Jews are going to be there, stay there, and forever and again shall defend their very existence there. As long as the Arab and Persian nations publically announce their intention to destroy Israel....we in the Western World have to make a decision. It is very simple in my view.

Either we support Israel and force their opponents to not only lay down their Arms...but also force them to engage fully with the Israeli's in peaceful relations.....or withdraw all support from Israel....fully support the Arabs and Persians....accept the fallout (literally and physically) and allow Israel to be over run, the Jews slaughtered, and and see an end to the turmoil.

There is no middle ground....as until there is a single winner, one with complete support of all of the World....there shall never be Peace in the Middle East.

I know which side I am on in this.....unfortunately my newly re-elected President seems to be on the other side in all this.

We went to War over Kuwait (and the Saudi Oil Fields) so why not over Israel? We were supposed to be restoring Democracy to the Kingdom of Kuwait so why not defend Democracy in Israel.

Let's play "Let's Make A Deal!" with the Muslim Nations calling for the utter destruction of Israel. They either stand down, lay down their Arms, sign a binding Peace Treaty, or understand any attack on Israel by any State or State supported group shall result in the Utter destruction of every Muslim Holy site, every town or city of any size, and occupation of those States by Western Military forces for as long as it is needed to wipe out the populations of those States.

Let's work a deal with the Russians and Chinese....figure out a deal that grants Russia seaports, China oil and seaports....and the same for us. Everyone gets something they want and the World see's and end to the turmoil in the Middle East.

In other words....Peace or Total War....their choice.

If you are to dream....dream big....right!
