A rather indifferent Footy match ensued.

Don't know about the one for Northolt though
That had NO on it - my parents used to live just below the south side of Harrow Hill and had quite a good view of it, and also of the Swissair DC8 that in the mid 60s nearly made the same mistake as the 707, but who realised his mistake at the last minute

Where's that Darwin thread when you need it?

And people wonder why paramedics call them 'donorcycles.'

Although I'm not sure I'd want to inherit an organ from one of these rocket surgeons.

Winter Hat

With the onset of the winter, and the disappearance of last year's hat*, millinery came to mind.

Marks & Sparks mail order is usually good, but for hats ... I have a problem. I know my size in "old money" (the 6-7/8 sort), but they quote S M L XL XXL and I don't know the exchange rate. Add the oversized bonce, and it gets tricky.

I suppose I'll have to go into town and see. Of course, they won't have the one I want in my size.

* She never did like that hat.

Happy Birthday Lillie Langtry. 157 years old today.

Black as the hobs of hell out there.

Just spent a good half hour trawling through iPlayer for Stockies masterclass in the art of broadcasting but to no avail. It would seem dear, dear Stockie that you are just 'not available'.
Fame is such a fickle mistress.

Poached eggs on granary toast for brekkers. More tea, must have more tea .......

great piloting skills
Me ol mate, Spence the Fence.

There is a pub in Sutton that Miss Langtree used to use, The Linden Tree maybe? Regulars would get a free pint on significant dates in her life. Never won one.

One is currently gritting one's teeth at the Beeb radio reporteress at the Chile mine rescue site who keeps saying stuff like "everything is working very smoothly". Shut TF up tempting fate.

One saw a Breakfast Egg in a newspaper (not true, twas the Mail) yesterday. NB the cap letters.

One suspects the chattering tossers will soon be buying the same at a greater price.

This is Miss Langtry's greatest fan.
Judge Roy Bean.

We need chaps like this on the bench.
One has switched to Russia Today for the news, this stupid vapid over the top reporting on both Sky and BBC news where they home in on one story and flog it to death is beyond the pale ,something should be done about the quality of the news we are subject too or rather lack of quality.

Apologies for extreme aviation content but here are a few pictures of the landing. Incredible how narrow that runway is for the big bird

8 Miners out at the moment.
I'd hate to be the last one out.
There would be no-one to talk to for a while.

I think the (relatively) unsung heroes are the paramedics who are going down to help - I really, really wouldn't want to be the last one brought up, left on your own down there for an hour, just hoping that something doesn't go horribly wrong at the last minute.

It would seem dear, dear Stockie that you are just 'not available'
You'll need to speak to my agent, handsfree!

Yeah, really annoying that Beebnews isn't on iPlayer.
