2012 Summer Olympics

Don't you just love them? There's nothing that makes me want to count how many fishhooks I can swallow, more than the concept of some Charlies (and I am confident in my use of that expression) to come up with this.

In the name of all that's holy.

I mean, we could have had an intestinal worm from Myra Hindley and a tramp from underneath Hammersmith Bridge and it would have made more sense than Wenlock and Mandelson.

Please tell me that this was just some bad acid I took in the 1980s and that it's not really happening.

It seems to be another case of Emperor's New Clothes, in other words Total B*ll&cks Syndrome. An absolute waste of money as typified by other aspects of the games like not holding the shooting events at Bisley, and insisting that the 3 Day Eventing must be held in Greenwich Park at a cost of alot rather than enhancing one of the really excellent world class facilities at Burghley or similar, and leaving a decent 'legacy' to the respective sports. But then these days why are we so surprised? The characters (the mascots) seem to typify the one-eyed myopia of those in charge!

Who's next on my soapbox?

The red braces wearers would die of shame if they ever came up with a concept that was greeted with mass approval. Just think of the humiliation and ridicule that would be heaped on them by their peers when walking into the Groucho Club. Poor dears, they suffer for their art!

Surely we all knew that the Olympics would be a national embarrassment. This is just the start.

Bugger. It wasn't the acid, then.

Honestly, the last time I saw so much c0ck I needed subtitles to understand the film. My Dutch is rusty.

Where's the Mayor in all of this? I'd relied upon his skills of alliteration to call it a perfidious perineum of piffle, or something like that. Lord Coe, whom I'd previously venerated, has gone over to the Dark Side, saying it's 'for the kids' Well, so's eating the things that come out of your nose, but that doesn't make it right.

Drapes,

Your supposition of the cost of this travesty, reminds me of a part of BT a few years ago, which asked a VERY well known PR company to design a 'BT type' logo for them.

What did they do?????

Cut the BT logo in half across the middle and charged BT 650,000. That was 10 seconds of well earned money!!!

Thumbs up Works for me

Sorry, folks. I'm instantly converted.

They're cheerful. They connect the two sets of games. They can only be identified with the UK Olympics.

What more do you want? A Lion and a Unicorn perhaps.

Olympic symbols should not be stuffy.

In my misspent youth, I remember seeing at the Dromana Drive-In Theatre (Victoria, Australia), in the seventies, one of my first 'R'-rated movies: 'Flesh Gordon'. In that movie, 'Flesh' fights a creature called the 'Penisaurus' . It is worth 'googling' the movie, it is still funny today.

The designer of these mascots must have seen the same movie but in stereo vision.

Whenever something like this comes along, you can bet that b3ta will be on the case, and they are: b3ta.com challenge: wenlock & mandeville. sample:

I haven't looked at all the 'shoppage, but I can guarantee that there will be something extremely offensive in there, so click at your own risk.

b3ta was my first port of call, and someone even managed to draw Mohammed (it's the 20th, after all)! They might be a bunch of Marxists living in Islington, but their creativity is undeniable.

Unlike the tosser who came up with Mandelson and - er - that other one.

Edited to say: It's been Goatsed
