I believe that Jacob Rees-Mogg hasn't ever made any suggestion that he wishes to be more than just a good MP. It seems that his strong principles and something about his character have caused a bit of a social media storm around him; something I'm not even convinced he really encourages.

He comes across as a bloke with principles, some I agree with, some I vehemently disagree with, but above everything he seems honest; something that seems a rare commodity amongst politicians in general.

Other politicians have risen to greatness whilst pursuing democratically determined policies that were at odds with their personal beliefs. Some have been honest, others like Tony Blair openly dishonest (I still cannot understand how Blair can square away his deceit and lack of moral judgement with his professed religious beliefs, to this day).

If it comes down to trustworthiness, then I would be inclined to compare Jacob Rees-Mogg with the late David Penhaligon. He was also a man of principle, who was not afraid to go against any political viewpoint if it meant that he could better represent his constituents.

Sorry but no, Farron took that job fully knowing his beliefs were not compatible with the job spec, nothing principled about that.

Once free of the shackles of the EU, hopefully the Conservative party will take advantage of the golden opportunity to free the UK from the liberal, progressive disease that afflicts the continent. Restoration of the death penalty, abolition of benefits for the feckless and lazy scroungers who choose not to work, repeal of the Human Rights Act: all should be on the agenda in short order. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to undo the damage done by 'liberalism'. It cannot be wasted.

Rampant stabbings, shootings, acid attacks and moped crime sweep across London and GQ magazine awards mayor Sadiq Khan the title of Politician of the year!
Well I live here and don't recognise your description of London. There's not much the Mayor can do about -- thankfully still a relatively small number of -- acid attacks and the like.

Under the Tories, with Theresa May as Home Secretary, 20 per cent of police officers were axed. Do you think this could possibly have something to do with it?

Just today

Forest Gate shooting: Corey Junior Davis, 14, dies - BBC News

Now if Boris was still Mayor do you reckon you would be blaming the Gov't and bailing Boris from any responsibility............

Yes indeed, we've got all sorts of long-standing laws against this nasty foreign sect, which has even sent suicide bombers to blow up parliament.

It was Henry throwing off the rule of foreign unelected bureaucrats that started it.

It was Henry wanting to throw away his first wife that started it.

Yes, sure, but what business was it of an unelected foreign bureaucracy to tell a god-appointed king who he could and couldn't sleep with?

But he had signed up to the Catholic Church Gertie, they had every right to do so in their minds.

Same sort of situation with Brexit isnt it, you know an unelected bureauracy!! sounds just like the EU commission

Not sure that Fawkes was planning to collect is 72 virgins that night he probably was going to do a runner as soon as the fuse was lit.

The EU dont need suicide bombers they think they can do it economically. Having said that trying to take the UK out will probably end the EU experiment anyway! so yeah watch this space.
