So true Lord Admiral Draper, but you grew up in a different, actually almost primitive, world - much different than that experienced by the cultured Ladies of PPRuNe.

Please don't feel that way. I am sure there will be some 'fufu' boys who would delight in the limited experience.

Mines? Mines! I say, we can't allow those beastly things. They ruin the paintwork. However, as it's floating I can sleep the sleep of the innocent, it's the ones on the bottom that get you......

There are gold mines, silver mines, copper mines, coal mines, uranium mines, or the ever popular MK56.....well, there are all sorts of mines. Which ones ruin the paint then?

Mr. Bean's youngest son? Sure, why not?

Evening all!
Just checking-in (though haven't read-in yet).
Just returned from the Opera - Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. On me own as Mrs G-CPTN decide not to accompany me . . . Tickets bought a couple of months ago. Her loss . . .
Not a great lover of serious opera, but Mozart's OK methinks.

We nearly dunched inter one of they mines, turning left out of the channel, big round rusty black fecker it were wi spikes,we passed by it about 50 yard away we reported it and as described earlier, Navy came out and shot it full of holes, every time there were bad weather the sods usta break free and float up.
Cant be many left now, unless them Jarmins is still slying them out at night and dropping them off the back of ferries and such.
Wudden suprise me.

NeVer mind the yer primitive Mr Lee,one was brung up proper like,I knows what spoon ter eat me dinner with.

It's not a mine, it's a 1,000lbs bomb which fell into the Mersey (Thank God!) instead of hitting its target. It was due to be detonated by the lads from the RN at approx 2230hrs Local.

Apparently the 'mine' in the Mersey was a deep-penetration berm containing 500Kg of German Bang. They were designed to explode AFTER they'd driven themselves deep into whatever they hit when dropped, but this 'baby' fell into the mud beneath the water, so never got detonated. Recent storms have moved-around the silt and uncovered the berm. The aforementioned grey-funnel boys attached a flotation bag to it and have towed it out to sea, as detonating it in situ would have destroyed situ and half a mile round about (I heard on the steam radio in the car).

One muses that a matelot would have to be very lovesick indeed to seek out a dugong wot a 'orrible thought.

Baron, hie thee unto a dispensary physician and get some Tramadol. Synthetic opiate, a close cousin to Methadone. Doesn't have the respiratory suppressive features of a real opiate. Does have the floaty-no-pain features. Avoid alcohol when taking. Marvellous stuff, one can personally recommend it from one's last spinal nerve root compression.

One thinks that lost H-Bomb would prolly make quite a big bang if they ever dredged it up and shot it Drapes.
