Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

Under the peephole lens on the inside of the cockpit door on one of our 340's someone had made up a sign that looked like a factory install, , "Caution, F/As may be larger than they appear"

"Jerk to inflate"

Our A320's have "Place Stewardess Here" stickers on the FD tables.

Tree - thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I've just spent an inordinate amount of time in the jumpseat of a -200. Hence my minds wanderings / speculations. Glad it wasn't a product of some lawyers devious brain.

Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

Our local CAD recently required us to put entrance and exit signs on everything. So our little Robbo R22 has a neat "Exit" sticker on the inside of each door.

I wouldn't have found the way out otherwise...

The fire extinguishers labelled "For Emergency Use Only"
I've always wondered to what exotic non-emergency uses they might be put...

...and for whom is the instruction "Press To Transmit" intended?

Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

Many, many moons ago, I nervously accelerated down the runway at STN in a CAFU Dove–for the purpose of getting my instrument rating. Just after T-off on a, a little window in the screens was slammed shut by the examiner, simulating going into cloud.

Pencilled on the inside of the slide, someone had written. "Good Luck!"

Blacksheep, it hints at the same mind that gave us: "Insert earphone in ear".

I don't understand why so many people are surprised at these very necessary notices.

Pass the Sun, would you?

Devil Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

For some reason we have our callsign stuck on the instument console..just by a little thing that lights up now and then with overboost written on it...one day I will read the aircraft manual and try to find out what it means.
There are also lots of other lights and things but I am usually too busy trying to keep straight and level to bother with insignificant things like that.
There is also an exit sign on the door...questions , questions...quite gives yer a headache sometimes
Why does the comms box have pilot, copilot and pax written on it??

Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

Similar to the R22 the PA-28 I have my lessons in has a sign above the one (and only) door saying "Emergency Exit".

And another thing, why is there always ash trays in the seats of a/c, when smoking has been banned for umpteen years?

Blacksheep, back in the old days of C02 fire extinguishers one could cool down beer very quickly with a C02 bottle.

But then again this too could be considered an emergency use!

Because if a pax sparks up, there needs to be an approved place for them to extinguish it. Either that or the aircraft you've been flying on are more than 10 years old?!

Accross a rather large airlines Boeing and Airbus fleet, there is a Boeing skipper planting stickers in various flight decks.... "Airbus pilots have nothing between their legs".

''No beer tins to be left in cab''

In cockpit of a lynx embarked on a ship I once served on whilst the flightdeck's primary role was for sods operas and 'film nights'.

I always thought the "Pull for fast erect" was a bit superfluous.

Re: Bizarre / interesting Flight Deck Placards

Mandatory sticker in UK Chipmunks: 'Spin recovery may require full forward stick. See also flight manual'.

Bit late to be flicking through the manual looking for the relevant page when the world's rotating in the windscreen and visibly expanding.
