Interesting that Jordan D mentioned the All Saints' Day Adjunct 'cos that got me thinking. So I did a bit a research and discovered the All Souls' Day Amendment. It's a tad cheeky to use it now but not disallowable since it has been used within 5 moves of The All Saints' Day Adjunct (although, strictly it's not All Souls' Day yet!)

Thumbs up

All Souls Day! - the religious connections fascinated me and there's an All Souls Church in Langham Place! At first it didn't seem possible. I pondered long and hard as to how to pull this off, discarding both Wellborough's parallel shunt with the orthoganal interdiction and Dickenson's lateral transition with the perpendicular variation until eventually - Bingo! - I recalled one of the Old Master's own moves.

So, here goes with Warburton's Circumbendibus, taking us to Oxford Circus for a quick visit to All Souls Church.

Invoking the Goat Juggling Clause in the Hartlepool and Rhyll Adjunct of 1942, I have removed my trousers and will leap about backward on one leg with a rose clenched between my teeth. This permits me the use of...

Bloomin' 'eck SRT, if you can pull that stunt off, I would say it permits you to do anything .....Well Done!

Anyway, from Putney to Stanmore.

But what none of you have realised is that today is a Bank Holiday in France. Under normal circumstances, by default, I would win as one move from Stanmore on a French Bank Holiday would put me at Mornington Crescent.

However, in the interest of fair play and because I am enjoying myself so much, I will, in deference to my fellow players, move the whole game to

High Barnet

What a nice chap. I think I'll open another bottle of wine to celebrate.

Still High Barnet in spite of you sneaky parallel move, Mr R C

You can't cross the river in 2 successive moves!

Try again...

You can in the 4th quarter of the year (see Partridge & Thrusdyke, 1962 for details).

Play still stands.

I re-emphasise - French Bank Holiday, sir. The ONLY way in which it is permitted, except for 25th December, even though it is a French Bank Holiday. No service then, you see.

I suggest you check that rule, first laid out in 1972, I believe.

High Barnet it still is.

I'm afraid you're forcing my hand on this. I can't be held responsible for the consequences of a reversion to Fosdyke's counter gambit as used in the 1957 play offs in Hamburg.

You have all been warned...

Ah, but Jordan, because it is the first Wednesday of November, it means that the next move after your very cunning little ploy is to go directly to Balham .

Do not pass Go, do not collect 200!

Ooooh, you swine! I was hoping you'd go for Tulse Hill in which case it's MC in three!

Seeing as you plumped for Balham I'll have to go to

Welling

MC in 5 if you're not careful............

Colonel mustard in the library with the candlestick!

Tally-ho to Upney - no way to MC in less than a dozen moves now! I do so enjoy these longer games.
