Hi guys,
I just read in a newspaper that the Italian Government just named a sole administrator to try to save Alitalia. It grabbed my attention that Alitalia is operating under the bankruptcy law since 2017 and that it hasn't made a profit since 2002.
I wonder what are the main reasons why Alitalia is having such a hard time to survive. It has a dominant position at the Rome and Milan markets but it seems that it can't take full advantage of it. I know that now the competition is very strong, but other European flag carriers have faced similar problems and they managed to survive and make a profit.

very simple: we are very good in doing pasta, pizza, sweets..we have very nice ladies, amazing coasts, mountains..nice weather. But when it comes about doing international business we generally sucks, Alitalia is only a clear example of the ineptitude of it's management which is generally underqualified, no english speaker, not aware of how the market is..being in Alitalia management it's mainly a "reward" that comes from politics lobby to few managers that have something to exchange with them.

Quasi tutti erano e sono a bordo di un qualche mezzo meccanico a manipolare i comandi.
Io mai volato in vita mia, se non qualche metro cadendo con la bicicletta.
